Ok, how many Concertina players out there (German or Brit Box) have and play a baritone at sessions? Im happy to say that I just bought a baritone Morse English to go with my Morse treble. How does the deeper sound blend in with the music? Can you play as fast with the baritone as with a treble??
Mary MacNamara has one, I believe, and put it to good use on a few track on her CD "Traditional Music from East Clare". It has a lovely sound, but she does play slower.
I have a Geuns-Wakker baritone C/G anglo. It plays very fast and I can do Irish tunes on it, and I know a Morse would respond fast enough as well (a Morse C/G anglo is my main session box). I've never taken the baritone to a session because I suspected I wouldn't be able to hear myself, but maybe one of these days I will try it.
I borrowed one to have a play last night at Dungworth and had a go at some ITM to prove a point - they CAN play NEARLY as fast over the majority of the scale. Obviously, the lower you go, the reeds CAN be a bit slower to respond.
(It was a D/A baritone).
Thanks for the responce everyone, I just got an email from the Button Box saying they will ship my Baritone in a few days.
Cant wait!
Now I have to go shoping for the wife before it arrives. Lets see, are diamonds still a girls best friend?? : )

The missus tells me ear-plugs are a girl's best friend in a concertina household.

Here's the sound of an English Baritone: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=pyFu2L09Nfc

I'd love to get my hands on a vintage C/G Baritone now!
Cheers
