Was a chat room ever considered for this site? Sometimes only a few of us are about and a small room would be great to pass the time and get to know one another in REEL time like! M Gill would have a great time playing hurley with all the goats! It would have to be strictly about the cause ITM and the likes.
Could it work or would jeremy have to employ the keystone cops to monitor it. Or could he trust us to our own devices?
I have trouble getting any work done as it is. As benevolent dictator, Jeremy has a duty to protect us from ourselves by stamping out reel-time conversations whenever they threaten to manifest!
How do you *win* at a game like Tetris? The machine always wins, that's kind of the point. Okay, we have house guests who should arrive in about 45 minutes, I'd better go set out the towels and make sure the bedroom is warm and fill the carafes with ice water and all that hostessy stuff. *yawn* I didn't think there were any flights into Denver after midnight anymore...
Oh, it's not about beating the computer - it's about having higher scores than your mandolin player. Damn mandolin players.
Hey, wow. your house sounds like a B&B. When we have guests at my house I clear a space for them on the floor and lock the fridge. I have dodgy, hungry friends.
Hey, if our house was a B&B, we'd be getting money. Instead, we generally just get tunes out of it. That's always kind of nice; luckily, itt's true that money isn't everything...
The Chiff and Fipple forums have a chatroom, the topics range from music, food, whistles, fiddles, flutes, pipes, food, movies, other miscellaneous stuff (mostly). Basically just chewing the fat. Oh and did I mention food? Its more active towards the evenings US time, mornings of European time, and afternoons of Asian time. Do drop by!
Call me old fashioned, but I like this better. It is not (in principle) as time consumating as a chatroom, and personally I find that in a discussion, it is easier to not lose my cool, when it is a post-thread.
No to the chatrooms!!!
They would just attract all the Tanyas and Country Boys of this world. I feel that I already behave as if I'm much younger than my actual years and don't want things to get even more juvenile.
Chat rooms… hmmmm well, let’s see… making new friends, meeting people, sharing ideas, voice chat, (playing tunes for each other there,) time absorbing – or time robbing, losing jobs, chat room romances, ruined marriages, moderators, chat room terrorism from 14 year olds,,, uh… maybe not.
I think I set up an MSN chatroom before @ http://groups.msn.com/TheTradCentre/chat for the Trad Centre, think it's probably still active, but you must have a valid MSN or hotmail Email address to access it.
. . . well . . . one of our ( _my wifes) cats (''hedgy'') brought a wood mouse in through the cat-flap in the kitchen yesterday and it died (but it didn't chew it's head off) but the strange thing was i didn't feel at all sorry for the hapless corpse when i know, in my heart of hearts, i should of . . .
What about a Chatroom?
