Re: Tweaked chanter fingerings on the site...feedback?
Hey Steph, I see you're in the Rochester area ans you're an engineer? I had a very good friend who played concertina and was also an engineer there. She went to RIT over last winter if I remember correctly. Has since moved out to Utah for a few months and is now in London. Beth is her name - you two didn't happen to bump into each other at a sessiopn out there did ya?
Re: Tweaked chanter fingerings on the site...feedback?
I grew up here but was away for several years before returning home this summer, so apparently Beth fled the country before I started coming around. Will she be returning? Everyone I've met out here so far has turned out to be not just an excellent musician, but a genuinely nice person to be around.
I've also discovered that there are more than a few uilleann pipers hiding out in Rochester, and now Nick Whitmer lives in Ithaca. I really couldn't ask for much more.
Re: Tweaked chanter fingerings on the site...feedback?
Yea Steph, I'd say you've found a pretty great hotbed of piping there! You'll certainly do well to hang around with Nick as much as possible! If you ever make it out to Salt Lake, look me up - we've got a pretty killer group of folks here as well - though no where near the level of skill as you all out there. We're still nice! LOL
Re: Tweaked chanter fingerings on the site...feedback?
I will certainly take you up on your offer when I get out that way again - always appreciative of the times had with pipers! Even more meaningful now that I've taken up the pipes myself.
Offer likewise extended - don't forget the added magic of having Debbie Quigley and her Woofe C chanter just 2 short hours away in Toronto It's great to be back here in WNY. Many tune junkies always ready to indulge...

My folks are out in Hartford and I am ALYWAS chomping at the bit to get some tunes in when I'm out there. I am hoping to plan a trip back again sometime in the next six months or so too. Can I look you up? Drop me an email off list if you would to this user name (keep the underscore thingy) at yahoo. Let's definitely stay in touch about this.
