Where does Tom Cussun of Clareen Banjos fame get his metal work from? What I mean is the Head, Clamps, Tone Ring etc. All that I know for sure is that the tuners are made be Groover and can break without to much notice! What I really need is a company name or something like that. Cheers
There are numerous US suppliers such as http://www.fqms.com or http://www.banjo.com (for the Gotoh tuners), http://www.elderly.com or the above mentioned Stewmac. All are good dealers and will get you what you want. And the dollar to Euro ratio is about $1.30 to the Euro right now!
I believe Tom has his own made to specification suppliers now especially for his tone rings. At one time he used Stewmac as did everyone else including Gibson, but he may have them made by Prucha in CZ as it is easier to import and the quality is very high. Why don't you ask him?
Thanks Mike , I would love to ask him but I don't want him to think that I am going to start making the things right under his nose. Just wondering how much trouble these banjo makers go to.
