Danu plays at Punkinfiddle, a festival held October 9 at Laudholm Farm in Wells, Maine, about 90 minutes north of Boston. Also on stage: Rodney Miller (fiddle), David Surette (guitar etc), and Susie Burke (guitar, vocals); and the Jerks of Grass (banjo, guitar, bass, mandolin) with Melissa Bragdon (fiddle).
Open mic available. Ceili in the late afternoon. "Jamming" encouraged. Workshops in the works.
It's also a day for demonstrating traditional crafts, carving/painting pumpkins, eating great food, playing games, watching sheep dogs work, and ogling a few farm animals.
Seven miles of trails on site. Easy walk to a beautiful sandy beach. Plus famed New England foliage at its peak.
I think I could be doing a session with a friend, but I just sent her this link. I'm hoping we might bring the families down for this event instead. Of course that means missing the concert in Waltham MA...hmmmm.....I hate to miss Brendan McGlinchey and all the others.....
I hate when I have to choose between 2 fantastic music events
Maybe you could lobby the CCE folks to travel to Waltham via Maine, Joyce, then they could do a quick little show for you here between all the other goings on.
The young Tommy Peoples
Ashley MacIsaac
and
the old guys on a seventies donegal fiddling tape I just rediscovered, who blast through their repertoire, squeaks and all, totally unconcerned with being accompanied, with the tone they're producing, with anything but making great music for dancing.

The punkest fiddler?
I'm torn between:
The young Tommy Peoples
Ashley MacIsaac
and
the old guys on a seventies donegal fiddling tape I just rediscovered, who blast through their repertoire, squeaks and all, totally unconcerned with being accompanied, with the tone they're producing, with anything but making great music for dancing.
