Montana Fiddle Camp?

Montana Fiddle Camp?

Reading these threads I've discovered that Montana is the music center of the world so in that spirit, has anyone been to the Montana Fiddle Camp? By the way, they do have an Irish trad guy scheduled just to keep this marginally on topic.

Re: Montana Fiddle Camp?

Middle of no where AND center of the world? Yep, it feels that way from where I sit (46 degrees, 36 minutes N, 112 degrees W).

I've missed the MT Fiddle Camp every year, and it used to be just 15 miles from my house. I really regret being too busy the year Frank Ferrell taught at it--a tremendous player and teacher. Oh well. I can tell you that it's widely held as a ton of fun, very friendly atmosphere, and they always get some top notch instructors (last year it was Buddy McMaster). Plus you get to rough it in the Little Belt Mountains of central Montana--beeeyootiful scenery, coyote serenades at night, and nice folks (though only about 10 per square mile).

If you come out this way Crusty, let me know. We do a weekly session in Helena. There're just a few of us hardcore ITM types here.

Thanks Will, I might give it a go if I can swing it. I like the small scale of the camp. Fiddle Tunes (Port Townsend) was fun but some classes had 30 to 40 folks. By the way that was really spiteful of them to move the whole camp when you were so close.
