Internet access at Willie Week

Internet access at Willie Week

I'm heading off to Miltown Malbay tomorrow. I won't be getting back 'till Thursday so I probably won't be able to add sheetmusic or soundfiles for any tunes submitted during that time.

I will have my iBook with me and it's got a wireless card but I'm guessing that Miltown Malbay won't have much in the way of WiFi. If anybody does happen to know of any hotspots there, or any other means of getting online, please let me know (I'll be checking this discussion for the next 10 hours or so).

To anybody else going to Willie Week: If you want to meet up, give me a call. I'm bringing my mobile along which should work in Ireland:
0044 7792 069292
Hope to see some of you soon.

Everyone else... behave yourselves while I'm away ;-)

If any veterans of Willie Week would like to help get me psyched up for the trip, please do so by sharing your best stories and fondest memories here.

Jeremy, in your absence I'm sure we can rely on Zina to keep everyone in order :)
Have a great holiday!

Re: Internet access at Willie Week

You can get your daily fix of the internet at the Miltown Malbay library. (as well as listen to lots of nice out of print cassettes!) I think you'll have to book time slots for that though, as lots of people will be wanting to use the internet facilities during the week.

Re: Internet access at Willie Week

Gee, I feel like a teenager left at home while his parents go on a cruise...PAR-TEE at www.thesession.org!!! Jeremy's likely to come home to cars parked on the flower beds, empties and strangers' underwear (and perhaps even a stranger or two) strewn around the house, a leather sofa in the swimming pool, and a large bill from the local strip-o-gram service....
:o)
Except this site is already an ongoing party, right?

Have a great time at Willie Week, Jeremy, and don't worry about a thing here. *wink wink*

Re: Internet access at Willie Week

Nah, Will's the OrderMeister. Have a lot of fun. If anyone sees a kid from Colorado name of Kevin, brown hair, lanky, very good fiddler, please tell him we all hope he's having lots of fun! (He'll probably be orbiting Conan some of the time.)

Re: Internet access at Willie Week

Zina, Will's the OrderMeister? Um. Yes. I've just re-read his post :)

Re: Internet access at Willie Week

There's absolutely no cause for alarm. We'll all be good while the cat... er, Jeremy, is away.

(Psst... Will, did you get the keg? I tried asking Zina about bringing some dancing girls - but she gave me a *look*)

# Posted on July 3rd 2004 by Q

Re: Internet access at Willie Week

Q, the beer truck will pull in around 8 p.m. Move the cars out of the driveway so we have room for an 18-wheel semi. Never mind the dancing girls, Hef is bringing his whole entourage, and the Chippendale guys said they'd be glad to bring their Lord of the Dance costumes if Zina will teach them some steps. I've already paid off the police and emailed 9,154 invitiations to all the lurkers here. Which reminds me, a Mr. M. Coleman emailed back to ask if the master bedroom was still available for overnight guests, and the caterer needs Jeremey's credit card number--do you still have it?

# Posted on July 3rd 2004 by Will Harmon

Re: Internet access at Willie Week

You guys are too funny! You'd better make sure you can put evertything back in order before Jeremy gets back or there will be hell to pay, and you'll all be grounded with no allowance and no session priveledges!

# Posted on July 3rd 2004 by Andee

Re: Internet access at Willie Week

Right. Thanks, Andee, for volunteering to head the clean-up committee. I've got a few hazmat suits lying around--if I can find them, you and your crew can borrow them on Thursday morning. Better get those vaccination shots now, while you're thinking of it. Do you know any good carpenters, just in case? And you might want to take a small sample each of carpet and wallpaper around to the local stores to see if anyone has matching stuff in stock. Jeremy'd be sure to notice all the urp stains, and I'm not sure he's ready to change the color scheme just yet....

# Posted on July 3rd 2004 by Will Harmon

Re: Internet access at Willie Week

Let's just surprise him with a re-paint and re-decoration of the place. What color? Perhaps tomato red?

# Posted on July 3rd 2004 by Zina Lee

Re: Internet access at Willie Week

Oh sure, the rest of us are getting ready for a first class bacchanalia, and you want to start a remodeling project. Killjoy. *smirk*
:o)

# Posted on July 3rd 2004 by Will Harmon

Re: Internet access at Willie Week

Hey, tomato red could cover a multitude of sins.

# Posted on July 3rd 2004 by Zina Lee

Re: Internet access at Willie Week

Zina, mustard yellow also covers a multitude of sins, eh?

Tell you what, let's do the party, end it a day before J. gets home, and use that time to do your tomato make-over. Everybody's happy (except maybe J.).

Re: Internet access at Willie Week

Only one problem. I don't have Jeremy's server hacked. Where's one of our clever hackers?

Re: Internet access at Willie Week

Chartreuse can be rather soothing, & if you use a good wash technique, it can really blend some nasty evidence, er, stains, er, damage. You know. I'll bring the veggie dip & my first aid kit, please collect your allergy bracelets/living wills at the door. I'm thinking an ER nurse may not be a bad thing to have around.

# Posted on July 3rd 2004 by emily_bmore

Re: Internet access at Willie Week

Don't do it tomato cuz then the T-shirt I ordered will already be outdated and I'll have to get a red one.

Re: Internet access at Willie Week

Do we have to clean up after ourselves if we're sick on the floor? Or is it okay to just leave it ? I was at a sesh last night and am hungover and feeling a bit queasy...

# Posted on July 3rd 2004 by Dr. Dow

Re: Internet access at Willie Week

Chartreuse, man, charteuse is where it's at.

PS Does anybody else have an overwhelming urge to call Jeremy up even if they are NOT in Miltown Malbay?

# Posted on July 3rd 2004 by emily_bmore

Re: Internet access at Willie Week

holy moly I thought you guys were kidding about the t-shirts....! I really should check in here more often....

Re: Internet access at Willie Week

They've come at just the right time for me. Every item of clothing I own has holes in and Beebs has been on at me for months cuz she says I need a good zhuzhing! So I've ordered two - one yellow raglan like Q's (creepy how we ordered the same - Emin you were right about Q I don't think he actually exists as a separate person) and a black and white henley. I hope they fit...

# Posted on July 3rd 2004 by Dr. Dow

Re: Internet access at Willie Week

Yes, Emily, I have, and I'm only resisting because I am probably already on the wrong side of the negative/positive balance on the Jeremy Annoyance Scale... :)

Q and Dow...you'll note they never post at exactly the same time... :)

Re: Internet access at Willie Week

Pssst, is he still here? I mean the Benevolent Dictator?

I think we should initiate a round-the-clock call Jeremy campaign. Oooh oooh then we could report back here with all Jeremy's activities, like what's for breakfast, who's playing at this high power session, which bushes are most convenient for relieving oneself behind, etc. It's like reality tv... but, um, not. Then we can all have the vicarious thrill of attending Willie Week! We should however limit ourselves to like a 3-minute call to challenge ourselves to collect the most data in the shortest time (& limit expenses), even if it is just listening slack-jawed to a rocking 4am sesh with all yer faves on the other crackling end an ocean or two away... OK I know that probably won't work out, but here, if at least 10 ppl call Jeremy over the next week & post their report here, I'll post my cell # next Friday & provide reports from the Catskills.

thesession.org -- We're all just crazy, except with matching t-shirts. Like a bowling league for the mentally unbalanced. Hmm that's a bit long for a bumper sticker, isn't it.

# Posted on July 3rd 2004 by emily_bmore

Re: Internet access at Willie Week

Actually I can independently confirm Q's existence. Well, hmm, that doesn't actually negate the possibility of Dow not being Q, or vice versa, he could still be Q.... stop it, you lads, my poor head can't take all these cyber identity crises! Let's just say I've sent parcels to each 'individual' in their 'stated country of origin' & had confirmed verification (by email) of receipt of contents. This by no means precludes the possibility (or impossibility) of their merged identity, or even that their pictures don't look extremely similar, or the 'photos' I've 'seen' b/c they could absolutely be brothers..... um can you tell I've been drinking? Just a nip. Too much time in the sun today, time for a lie down. Have a nice trip Jeremy, I promise not to call unless A. you say it's OK, & B. I've sobered up.

Re: Internet access at Willie Week

We'll look even more alike when we get our yellow raglans! He's got more hair than me though, which is a bit annoying...

Re: Internet access at Willie Week

Dow, I know you're reading this, call Jeremy! Well it's what, 8am in Ireland? He'll be getting ready to leave, it'll make a great first entry!

Double dog dare!

Re: Internet access at Willie Week

ROFL you are SO English

# Posted on July 3rd 2004 by emily_bmore

Re: Internet access at Willie Week

Do you reckon it wouldn't bother him having random people call him? I think Beebs is meeting him at some point - she's over there now.

# Posted on July 3rd 2004 by Dr. Dow

Re: Internet access at Willie Week

Well ring up Beebs then! I know, I know, but the temptation is SO GREAT & he did put his cell # up in public domain! We LOVE you Jeremy! Did Beebs tell you I called her a few weeks back? It's SO cool to hear the voices...

# Posted on July 3rd 2004 by emily_bmore

Re: Internet access at Willie Week

No no no no no...don't call him, because he'll end up paying for part of it, that out of area thing, won't he, and that'd be too annoying for him without his permission.

# Posted on July 3rd 2004 by Zina Lee

Re: Internet access at Willie Week

Anyway a) I think it's more like 6am over there and the poor guy's probably still in bed, and b) I'm a complete chicken when it comes to dares, except when I'm drunk.

# Posted on July 3rd 2004 by Dr. Dow

Re: Internet access at Willie Week

Oh crap, this is one of those things I'll regret posting in the morning b/c of drinking, right? Damn I hope he doesn't delete the thread, maybe just his #. Damn!

What about text messaging? *grin*

# Posted on July 3rd 2004 by emily_bmore

Re: Internet access at Willie Week

Zeens, Em's drunk and she's gonna end up doing something silly. You're over in America - do something quick!

# Posted on July 3rd 2004 by Dr. Dow

Re: Internet access at Willie Week

No no no I already had one international call today... but hey, it's sort of Sunday now isn't it?

No no I swear I won't do anything. I was going to quip something about Gee Dow if you only do dares when you're drunk, I can't see why you shouldn't audition for Fear Factor. Muahahaha!

# Posted on July 3rd 2004 by emily_bmore

Re: Internet access at Willie Week

Yeah that was a lot funnier in my head.

# Posted on July 3rd 2004 by emily_bmore

Re: Internet access at Willie Week

LOL -- text messaging...I don't think you pay extra for that, do you? Anybody know?

# Posted on July 3rd 2004 by Zina Lee

Re: Internet access at Willie Week

But don't you have to know his service to send a text message?

# Posted on July 3rd 2004 by Zina Lee

Re: Internet access at Willie Week

Heh. I just read further up -- "But our T-shirts match!" would make a great TheSession motto, don't you think?

# Posted on July 3rd 2004 by Zina Lee

Re: Internet access at Willie Week

Hmmm.... I've only ever received text messages from 2 ppl, & I was only lazy enough to hit 'reply.' I've no idea how to initiate & haven't seen the billing statement. It's also very labor-intensive, & I've finally begun to understand why ppl type 'u' for 'you,' etc, which normally drives me bonkers.

# Posted on July 3rd 2004 by emily_bmore

Re: Internet access at Willie Week

I love the idea of doing something a bit naughty though. I wish I was a computer nerd and knew how to hack into thesession so I could change the colour or draw a wine stain on the opening page or something :-)

# Posted on July 3rd 2004 by Dr. Dow

Re: Internet access at Willie Week

Yes, my phone actually even has memory bits for pre-input messages, so you can easily reply with canned messages. Draw a wine stain -- LOL, Mark!

# Posted on July 3rd 2004 by Zina Lee

Re: Internet access at Willie Week

A wine stain? That is SO Naughty!!! *boggle*

What some kind of Aussie-Geordie-English-Rorschach?

More like a coffee or tea ring, don't you think, is more our speed?

Re: Internet access at Willie Week

I'm beginning to tell, cider makes me melancholy, wine makes me giggly, Guiness always makes me feel great, but whiskey makes me downright ornery. Can you tell what I've had? Esp that poor sax player... OK I should lay down, LOL

# Posted on July 3rd 2004 by emily_bmore

Re: Internet access at Willie Week

Ok, I just noticed that I have been "volunteered" to take care of all clean up operations. Sigh. That's what I get for being the responsible, nice one.

Mark, could you please tell me where you got that word from? Zhuzhing. That word. There's a reason why I ask.....

# Posted on July 3rd 2004 by Andee

Re: Internet access at Willie Week

There was a bit of a fuss made about "zhuzh" in the press over here after it was coined by Carson out of "queer eye for the straight guy". I personally can't stand the show and Carson annoys the absolute hell out of me, but Beebs says she loves it and watches it all the time. It gets huge ratings over here and they're talking about doing an Aussie version.

# Posted on July 3rd 2004 by Dr. Dow

Re: Internet access at Willie Week

So much as I can't stand Carson, he definitely has a talent for coining new words. It's amazing that such a strange-looking word has entered the English language so quickly, just because of a telly show...

Re: Internet access at Willie Week

Heading off for Milltown on Wednesday and I'll reassure Jeremy that all is well on the site and everyone is behaving themselves - that should worry him immediately. Hope to meet up with him at some stage.

# Posted on July 3rd 2004 by MollyB

Re: Internet access at Willie Week

Will - I thought I had Jeremy's credit card number, but he must have changed it or capped the limit just after we ordered those giant inflatable leprechauns for the summer session pool party earlier. Bugger, We'll just have to have a couvert charge.

Ahem. With regard to those skeptics who question my actual existence... Alright alright, I confess - I *am* Dow. Just please don't tell him (me when I'm him), it'll destroy the fragile balance his/my unconscious mind has constructed in order to cope with the horrors of English box-playing.

Worse still - I'm not the only one - You too could be a Dow personality construct!

(Just remember rule one: You DO NOT talk about Glee Club).

Who's Brad Pitt & who's Edward Norton? They're both dead sexy, IMHO. Ow, my head....

# Posted on July 4th 2004 by emily_bmore

Re: Internet access at Willie Week

Ok, Mark so you did get it from that show. I'd heard about it being used on that show. The reason why I ask is because, My mom swears she invented that word in the early 70's. In fact I remember her using it then and she still does use it. Back in the day, all my mom's friends used the word. When she and my dad or she and her girlfriends would get all dressed up for a night out dancing she'd say she was getting shuzzed up. Or sometimes she used it like the phrase "what's going on?" She'd say, "What's the shuzz?" My cousin thought maybe it was a Yiddish word my mom picked up from my grandparents, but she looked it up in a Yiddish dictionary and didn't find it there.

Remember the show "Married With Children"? Well the woman on that show, I forget her name--that's my mom, only my mom's nicer.
