Re: Potomac Celtic Festival

I was there on Sunday. Enjoyed the Kane Sisters and Lunasa and several others. I always have a good time. The weather was nice this year.

Re: Potomac Celtic Festival

I went on saturday, and it was the most wonderful day to be out! Perfect weather - breezy, sunny, an not too warm, which considering the weather the past few days is simply a miracle!!

I thought the music lineup was OK - I also liked the Kane sisters and Lunasa, but overall I thought the music lineup 2 years ago was better.

Hm.. I also noticed a significant increase in the number of vendors from 2 years ago, including 2 "modern kilt" vendors, which I was very happy to see! I hope they do well and sell many kilts to men in the DC area... ;)

The session tent seemed to have musicians in it at all times, which was a highlight for me, because I was able to see friends and catch up with people.

Sam2, you did not tell us what you thougt... did you go?

Re: Potomac Celtic Festival

I really enjoyed it. I didn't catch the Kane Sisters, but I saw most of the others. I especially enjoyed Lunasa and Navan.

Re: Potomac Celtic Festival

I was also there, Saturday only. The members of Coleman's Cross play in my DC sessions (and I study with the flute player), and also Doc Botzer and Josh Dukes are great friends and fellow musicians. So I caught their acts, and a tad of the Kane Sisters (who sounded great) and Lunasa's performance on Saturday evening, which I thoroughly enjoyed.

This is my first June on the east coast and so my first Potomac Celtic Festival. Out of curiousity, how did this one fare against previous ones? About the same? Better?

Re: Potomac Celtic Festival

HI all.. a bit of a dated thread for my first post, but as a bodhran player, I specialize in being a bit behind everyone else.

I made it to Saturday of the Potomac fest, and had a great time, though I must have stood still too long as I somehow got put to work.

As a 15 year worker\manager of the North Texas Irish Festival, I have to say... I have extreme weather envy. The weather was gorgeous, as was the site. The performer line-up seemed great to me and as near as I could see, a great time was had by all. I had much fun talking shop for a bit with the stage staff and if life permits, will be happy to show them the same hospitality at NTIF.

And a long-dist. hello to Diana, posting immediately above, from that odd goat-bashing furriner who kept showing up at all her sessions!

Jeff
(Furriner you ask? well.. they say Texas is like a whole other country (and isn't it nice of us to releive the rest of you of the responsibility)
I figgered I musta been a furriner. Ever'one up thayer talked witha funny aksent.
