Re: Mighty Craic

Is it to late for my username to be changed, as I no longer use felemanden? It's now weefreefidler. Thanks
Anders

Re: Mighty Craic

Max, I'm SSSoooo happy :-)

The emailed tracks are going to be snail mailed to me by Zina, is that right??? Or have you got them burned onto a CD??

Can't wait to get started.

# Posted on June 7th 2004 by Tusong200

Re: Mighty Craic

I'm assuming MP3s emailed to Zina aren't on the list?

# Posted on June 7th 2004 by Kerri Brown

Re: Mighty Craic

Likewise I sent mine as an mp3 emailed to Zina. Hopefully this will get passed on.
Cheers and thanks for doing such a great job.

Re: Mighty Craic

Now that's out of the way, how about producing a DVD? :-)

Re: Mighty Craic

Are you volunteering? LOL

Sandy, I'm SSSoooo sorry I took so long. :-) That's right, those will come from Zina.

Kerri - any tracks sent to Zina aren't on the list.

weefreefidler - that's fine, I'll make the change.

This is so exciting!

Re: Mighty Craic

So, Max, have I got everybody now? From your list, I rather think I do, but I want to double check before getting the thing burned and sent off to Sandy.

Re: Mighty Craic

There are a lot of the regulars *not* on that list, who know who they are. What's your excuse?

Re: Mighty Craic

Well? C'mon then or we'll have to start naming and shaming.

Re: Mighty Craic

I was dead at the time?

I could have sent in a whistle track, but my new flute was *supposed* to arrive before the cut-off date and I kept hoping that it'd get through the miserable SA postal service in time. Then things just spiralled to despondency, and I ended up sending nothing at all.

When my flute arrived I was going to ask if I could slip a track through, but it turns out it's way too late.

I'm quite sad about it, but it's my own fault.

Oh well; next time...

Re: Mighty Craic

My excuse? I never got round to doing it properly. I tried it a couple of times on my PC and wasn't happy with result. Just a solo flute didn't sound very good. I'd have preferred a recording of a session, with me in it. I have that on tape but tapes are't any good for this project.

# Posted on June 7th 2004 by Rudall the time

Re: Mighty Craic

Thank you very much for all your input. much appreciated.

Re: Mighty Craic

Hey Lord Danny, what d'ya mean "tapes aren't any good for this project"??

# Posted on June 7th 2004 by Tusong200

Re: Mighty Craic

That's what I thought anyway. If they are valid, I could send a copy off for volume 2.

# Posted on June 8th 2004 by Rudall the time

Re: Mighty Craic

Lord, Check your email.

# Posted on June 8th 2004 by Tusong200

Re: Mighty Craic

LOL -- now what are you cooking up there, Sandy?

# Posted on June 8th 2004 by Zina Lee

Re: Mighty Craic

Got it Sandy. Thanx

# Posted on June 8th 2004 by Rudall the time

Re: Mighty Craic

Zina, check your email :-)

# Posted on June 8th 2004 by Tusong200

Re: Mighty Craic

ok, who who gets to buy a copy of the CD - the contributors only, right? Otherwise, I'm feeling a bit let down here at the thought of experienced players having a laugh at my crappy effort, but not submitting their own tracks.

# Posted on June 8th 2004 by grego

Re: Mighty Craic

Let's hope nobody is gonna laugh at anyone. That's not the spirit of this project.

# Posted on June 8th 2004 by Rudall the time

Re: Mighty Craic

ok, thanks Danny, but I'd still like to hear who's on the distribution list.

# Posted on June 8th 2004 by grego

Re: Mighty Craic

Found the relevant quote, from Max's original posting: "Anyone who recorded a track for it would then receive a copy of the album"

# Posted on June 8th 2004 by grego

Re: Mighty Craic

I'm not sure, but I don't see why anyone who wants to buy one, contributor/member or not, will be prohibited from doing so. I don't think the CD duplicating company is going to be checking anybody's credentials.

# Posted on June 8th 2004 by Tusong200

Re: Mighty Craic

I didn't mean to say earlier that this would be an exclusive album, and only contributors would get it. I was kind of expecting more people to contribute though. What do you think Zina?

BTW -- you have almost all the tracks, but there were two that I coudn't send. They were rather big, and apparently my email program let me receive them but it won't let me send them. They are Gina Marco's, and Highlandsun's. I contacted Highlandsun, but I still have to tell Gian Marco. Since they sent them to me, I thougt that maybe they could send them to you.

(Sorry guys, kinda inconvenient)

Re: Mighty Craic

Lord of the Flies if anyone will be laughed at that will be me I decided I would do two Fiddle tracks (and two whistle) just for fun at the time I was a bad Fiddler but I am still happy with my result and can't wait to get this CD.

# Posted on June 8th 2004 by Why Bother?

Re: Mighty Craic

Personally I'm scared that once you all hear my recording you will stop taking my opinions seriously. I sent in a sitar / shakey-egg / kitchen spoon / five-string banjo / recorder / standard-tuned guitar medley of overplayed, unornamented tunes that speed up and slow down erratically throughout the track. That's OK in ITM, right?

# Posted on June 8th 2004 by Kerri Brown

Re: Mighty Craic

You mean it's ok we stop taking your opinions seriously?

# Posted on June 8th 2004 by grego

Re: Mighty Craic

LOL, well I suppose if anyone ever took my opinions seriously in the first place it's OK if you stop. If not, you don't need to start!

# Posted on June 8th 2004 by Kerri Brown

Re: Mighty Craic

Anyone who wants to buy a copy, may do so. There'll be a website at Mixonic and anyone who wants may purchase one and have it sent to them from the Mixonic folks.

Sure, Gian Marco and Howard, send me your tracks directly.

Sandy, I'm going out of town on Thursday (I hope)...if I have all the tracks by then, I'll try to get it sent to you before I leave. If not, it'll be either the week after, or the week after that, as after a rest of two days I head out to Boston, then Baltimore, then Chicago, at which point, I'll just hand the CD to you. :)

Re: Mighty Craic

Okay then, Brad, Glauber, Geoff Pollitt I'm shocked! Are your names not on the list because you've sent your tracks to Zina? I was looking forward to hearing you all :-(

Re: Mighty Craic

Okeydoke Zina, I've emailed you the pertinent (and impertinent) stuff.

# Posted on June 8th 2004 by HighlandSun

Re: Mighty Craic

Grrrrr..... after an email exchange with Q, I got sucked back in! My tracks absolutely suck. Solo flute, you can hear the dog going in & out of the doggie door, botching all the changes, dreadful. Best Darn Irish Band in Chinle is also the most out-of-tune & it will make your toes curl. Dow, if Joyce shows up here in a few weeks, we'll get her. We may have to jam it on the end of that CD last minute-like before it gets handed off to Tusong, but there you go. Jeez, makes me want to re-record my tracks.... no! no! no!!! Back to lurking!

# Posted on June 8th 2004 by emily_bmore

Re: Mighty Craic

A-ha I knew you wouldn't have disappeared! Yay! Yeah Em, get Joyce. There's no way she should be allowed to get away with this.
Maybe we'll have to drop you into conversation once every few days on the yellowboard just to keep you reading ;-)

# Posted on June 8th 2004 by Dr. Dow

Re: Mighty Craic

Please don't. :P

Nah it was about the Mighty Craic, & I'm still excessively interested in the progress of that experiment. Forgive me if I skip the re-hashes on smoking, fiddle help & recorders.... I thoroughly enjoy skimming stuff like the public performance thread, the caliber of posting is really really fantastic these days, at least on the entertainment scale... Call me crazy, but now that I actually have sessions to go, it's sorta taking up a bunch of time. (!!?) Which is why I'm writing now at 4am EDT b/c I came home from a session & can't play b/c my parents are sleeping. How sad is that.

# Posted on June 8th 2004 by emily_bmore

Re: Mighty Craic

Em you sound jaded. Take care...

# Posted on June 8th 2004 by Dr. Dow

Re: Mighty Craic

Yes, I've done a track, although I may see if something else pops up while I'm out at Jack's session or at Emily's party, as listening to me play solo isn't much fun.

Will has NOT done a track, mainly because we were going to do one at the Rocky Mountain Rendezvous, but by the time we got around to it, he claimed to be all played out. (I can vouch he gave it a good try, but was so tired at that point that he couldn't get through a whole tune. *grin*)

Mark, you rabble rouser. I have work to do here before I can get out of town and will be surviving on 3.5 hours sleep today and the same tonight, I'm sure. Stop trying to incite a riot while my back is turned. *grin* Go talk Bridie into recording something for this.

The tracks I have are lovely, and I have Q's and Gian Marco's now and need to listen to them to make sure they made it through the ethers unharmed. I'm sure the ones that Max is sending to Sandy are equally lovely. Howard, haven't gotten yours yet, use my ntw address.

Kerri, I'm just not sure I can shoehorn any more travelling in there -- Montreal may have to wait until I have another week to travel. :-( I'll only have one day in Boston, an evening in New York, and then I have to help Emily get ready for her first (and hopefully not last) Baltimore shindig ever, and then I'm off to Chicago for two days. What about if you meet up with Joyce in Vermont, and then come down with us to New York and Baltimore? That makes more sense!

# Posted on June 8th 2004 by Zina Lee

Re: Mighty Craic

Okay, well, hey, don't stress yourselves lads. We don't mind having put ourselves out for a project that you were talking about before I was even born. No we don't mind at all :-D

# Posted on June 8th 2004 by Dr. Dow

Re: Mighty Craic

Is that that vaunted purity of tradition oozing out your pores again, Mark? *snort*

# Posted on June 8th 2004 by Zina Lee

Re: Mighty Craic

Will said he had that copy of Bang Your Frog with him braying into the mic, Is this thing on? I vote for that one. Will, if you're listening, please take pity on us!

Dow, sadly I am jaded. I get panhandled in church, during the sermon! My brother borrowed my dad's car yesterday & it got broken into outside his apartment downtown & all my dad's CD's stolen, talk about unique, irreplacable. Things back on the rez are unbearably bleak by report. LĂșnasa, coolest band in the world, gets robbed in New Zealand, coolest country in the world. Is there no refuge? I've taken a job night shift in a busy urban ER, won't start for a few weeks, but hopefully I can channel all my jadedness towards saving lives & stuff. I'm actually really good at it. Additionally, all the sessions are so good here, all I can do is listen. Yeah, it takes the edge off, kicking back, closing your eyes, let the tunes melt your heart.... *sigh* I'm waxing melodramatic, it is seriously best I go back to lurking....don't even get me started on the goddam war, it just makes me so.... mad, & feel so helpless..... another day of our young men exposed, rich men's toys..... drove past the White House yesterday, good thing he couldn't hear me as he was in France.

Kerri, please come down. Please please please we need another fiddle please please ...... Give us some Canadian sanity & some of that sweet bud LOL

# Posted on June 8th 2004 by emily_bmore

Re: Mighty Craic

Wish I could but I just can't see myself finding the dough between now and then. I think if I try to bring you some sweet Canadian bud I'll end up in Guantanamo Bay.

# Posted on June 9th 2004 by Kerri Brown

Re: Mighty Craic

Hey Emily, sorry I couldn't call you back on Sunday, but MAN are you busy! I'll call again soon. What's this about a party? I'm not too shy to ask....

# Posted on June 9th 2004 by Andee

Re: Mighty Craic

'Sweet Canadian Bud' - is that what you guys smoke up there?

# Posted on June 9th 2004 by Ottery

Re: Mighty Craic

Aren't telephones wonderful, Andee? *grin*

I hear Cuba is very nice this time of year, Kerri. No worries, I'll just sic Zina on you, she'll set you straight. Ottery, there are so many jokes here, my mind boggles. Boggling mind.

# Posted on June 9th 2004 by emily_bmore

Re: Mighty Craic

Boggle. I still can't get over it. Are we sure that's a word?

Not only do we smoke sweet Canadian bud up here, we also have nearly legitimate politicians lobbying for legalization. Let's all vote NDP, folks!

# Posted on June 9th 2004 by Kerri Brown

Re: Mighty Craic

"Nearly" legitimate politicians? LOL

Nah, c'mon, Kerri -- just get yourself to Vermont, and Joyce and Emily and I will take care of the rest.
