Request for Modern Tunes!!!! (A Chance to Have Your Tunes Up In Lights!!!)
Heelo Guys, Its Matheu Watson here. I know this is rather cheeky to do but my band ,Tassel Bandits, are giging pretty heavily in the summer (including gigs with SessionA9 and the Incredible String Band)and we are looking for new material .We mainly play modern tunes so that is what we are looking .Any recently composed tunes, not posted on this website will do. They can be in any key and of any type (preferibly all types of jigs and reels ,but any will do). The reason that we wont never before seen tunes is because we would like give new and hidden composers a chance at having their tunes up in lights and beause thats what we normally play. They can be of any style (preferably Irish, Breton, Galcian ,Modern or Scottish)and if we use I can promise you that the composer will get ful credit (no Plagerism here folks!!!!). If you have any tunes that fit the bill could you please e-mail them to me (any amount you want).
If you can not e-mail the tunes give me an e-mail anyway and I give you my address.
Thanks very very much
Matheu and The Tassel Bandits.

There Are awesome new tunes floating around...you should respect the oldie but goodie tunes tho. Dow's favourite tune ever is the Kesh jig - this is a great tune played sober....but even better drunk......
Re: Request for Modern Tunes!!!! (A Chance to Have Your Tunes Up In Lights!!!)
Some advice from someone who's been an enthusiastic listener much longer than a player. You don't have to take it, of course. :-0 )
It's always better, i think to have, to play, and to *listen* to a mix of the old and new.
Play the Kesh jig even but I think they were joking.
Re: Request for Modern Tunes!!!! (A Chance to Have Your Tunes Up In Lights!!!)
This discussion about how to find original tunes by session.org members has come up before in here. Jeremy hasn't created a database to facilitate this, but one thing I suppose we can do is to put a link to all the tunes we've composed in our profile. But you'd still have to search the profiles, so it's not really a complete solution I suppose.
Re: Request for Modern Tunes!!!! (A Chance to Have Your Tunes Up In Lights!!!)
Well I went and wrote a tune it is a reel I don't have a music writting thing on the computer so I am going to scan it and send it to you but I am haveing scanner problems so maybe tomorrow...
Re: Request for Modern Tunes!!!! (A Chance to Have Your Tunes Up In Lights!!!)
It is in b minor and ends with a D and B double stop sounds real interesting and puts a new meaning to using the treble a lot in one song/tune probably the best tune I have ever written.

I always think some very old Scottish or Cape Breton tunes are much more funky than any other modern composition. For example,

Gorbachev's Farewell to Lithuania is cool (posted here). Sometimes I stick it with Pachelbel's Frolics and Farewell to Chernobyl.
