Hey everyone, saw Paddy Keenan Friday night here in Charm City, at what I considered a woefully underattended show, which might have been different if ppl knew he was in town. So, if nobody objects, I'm gonna post some upcoming stuff that might interest folks within driving distance.

Tuesday, May 25th, 8:00pm - Glen Echo Town Hall
6106 Harvard Avenue - Glen Echo, MD

DONNA LONG
with the Kane Sisters
in concert
THE CELLAR STAGE -- FRIDAY, MAY 28, 2004
St. John's United Methodist Church - 5315 Harford Road, Baltimore, MD
Show time: 8:00 P.M. Tickets: $15.00
DONNA LONG and THE KANE SISTERS perform, Friday, May 28, 2004, at The Cellar Stage, located at St. John's of Hamilton, United Methodist Church, 5315 Harford Road, Baltimore, MD. Tickets are $15.00. Show time is 8:00 p.m. Doors open at 7:00 p.m. Concert information call 410- 521-9099. This concert is alcohol and smoke free.
Yay Andee!! Yes, Baltimore is also the city that got annihilated in that Ben Affleck movie Sum of All Fears. Believe it or not, there some great sessions! Yeah maybe I should change my handle....
Hi Emily, and welcome to the Northeast... as Andee will tell you, it's not far at all from Bawlmer to Philly, so I hope to have some tunes in either burg sometime. Seems like your new digs are really up & coming as an ITM community... the McCommiskeys, Donna Long, Pat Egan, your cuz Eliot, Zan, Brendan Mulvihill, etc etc. Enjoy & do come up sometime.
Joe, it has to do with wardrobe coordination, so we won't have 'fashion clash.' DK, thanks! Technically it's 'welcome back' as Baltimore is my hometown, I was just livng in Arizona since November 2001. The pints are exceptionally sweet here! Once you pick the cicadas out anyway..... :P
Ah-ha... so, there you go. Welcome back it is! I dunno, the cicadas are all right, with a bit of Old Bay seasoning and a Wild Horse porter. Hope to meet up soon.
Emily, I plan to be at both those concerts you've advertised. Although given my experience last year when a Friday afternoon rush hour drive to the same venue in B'more where Donna and the Kanes are playing took three hours, I may need to leave for Baltimore immediately after the Tuesday concert in Glen Echo in order to guarantee that I'll get there in time. I know there are no cicadas in Arizona, but do they have traffic there? Anyway, I will keep an eye out for a young lady resembling the one in the FKWS pictures you posted (although since there's no bar in either of these venues, probably a bit more sober and more rested - I'll adjust accordingly) and if I see you I'll come up and say hi...
John, there is virtually no traffic on the rez, except cows, sheep & horses, seriously, but lots of traffic in Phoenix, & even Flagstaff ie Route 66. It's nice to know parallel parking is sort of like riding a bike, once you learn.... the main difference is I'm still blonde (yeah yeah yeah), but got about 8 inches of hair chopped off, so it's above shoulder length now, nice summery cut! Looking forward to tunes, John, DK, Andee, etc!!
Do you think this would clash Em. Grey hair shoulder length arranged in braids with blue ribbons. MY leotard and the white patent thigh length go-go boots and a matching blue ribbon for the bodhràn tipper.
Okay, okay. what if I lend you my little black number of a skirt with the fish-net stockings and my rubber wellington boots?
You can borrow me goggles too.
Wot's yer waist size? Will I need suspenders, & if so, will they match the wellies? Otherwise sounds good. I'll also of course wear my tight-fitting Guinness t-shirt to put off all the lads on their playing, as if the rest of the ensemble wouldn't do the trick.
I said your waist size, Dr. Quinn, not your hat size. OK I'll make adjustments accordingly. Now we're all set for our real-life meeting! I'm off for a flute lesson, would everyone on this site be mad if I took a couple of lessons on the ol' goatskin? Very competent teacher, Messr Bretholz... I'll take that as a yes, & proceed accordingly. Cheers!
Lessons from Myron? Do you have to pay extra if you want jokes included? (Or perhaps given the source you should pay extra to get the jokes turned off for the duration of your lesson.... :->)
Guess all this talk answers my question. Guess you're back in Baltimore Emily. How bout more thesession people do this? Instead of me having to travel around and meet people, how bout you all just move to Baltimore? Any takers? Anywho Emily, I'm sure I'll see you around as I pretty much hit any ITM related function in Baltimore. I'm the 20-something guy with spiky hair and a black polymer flute. See you around.

Re: May concerts in Baltimore
I saw Donna Long when she was at Cellar Stage last year with Cherish the Ladies. Great, cozy venue. Sorry I wasn't in town last Friday.
And Zan Mcleod is teaching at Common Ground on the Hill this summer in Westminster, MD.
AND Martin Hayes and Dennis Cahill are playing in June at Longwood Gardens, which is in PA somewhere--
...good stuff coming to town...

See this is what I was afraid of, we'll both be wearing the same thing. D'ye have anything I could borrow? A flattering skirt, perhaps? ;)

My blue knitted bootees and romper suit?
# Posted on May 18th 2004 by Joe Quinn

Oh dear, what's a romper suit? It doesn't sound terribly flattering!

You know, a one-piece cotton/knitted suit like babies are dressed in.

Lovely, why not just strap a parachute on the back of me & a pair of goggles to boot? Honestly, bodran players are always trying to hog the limelight!
