I've always heard that the Mooncoin Jig was a 'Northern' jig. If anyone has more information, send it along.
Here is a site that has the Mooncoin Jig in ABCs or as a Gif. Simply hit the button on the left that reads
Jigs M-Z: http://www.prof.co.uk/irish/jigs
I like to play the first 2 quarter notes of the phrase as triplets.

Re: Mooncoin-Jig
May I interject here and add a word or two.

If anybody knows this tune, rather than simply sending it to Stefanie, how about submitting it to the site?
C'mon, Stefanie, don't be greedy - there might be other people who would like to know the tune, too, y'know.

Re: Mooncoin-Jig
There is a village in south Co. Kilkenny called Mooncoin which I allways assumed to be the source of this tune. I'm open to correction though.

You can hear it on the 'In Full Spate' album played by Paddy Glackin.

Re:Mooncoin Jig
Re the Kilkenny Mooncoin,I can only say that it sounds very northern to me.Either that or a particularly well-primed Kerryman's tune!
