FRIDAY 23rd: Launch of Carlow Fleadh in The Lord Bagenal at 9.30 pm. New band “Nuada”, will launch a cracking CD called “Open the door for 3” at this launch. This band features Jeremy Spencer on fiddle. Jeremy grew up in Carlow and is studying music in U.C.C. at present. More information at http://www.nuadamusic.com Speeches kept to a minimum and music kept to the max!
SATURDAY 24th: Primary school competitions held in Parish Centre. These start at 2pm and everyone is welcome. Come along and support the young Carlow musicians.
Fleadh Concert in Parish Centre at 8.30pm. Features a mighty young band from Antrim called “Beoga”. These are great musicians and very funny lads! More information at http://www.beogamusic.com Tickets are just €5
SUNDAY 25th: Fleadh competitions in Parish Centre. These are the qualifiers for the Leinster final and again we urge everyone to come along and enjoy these young (and some older!) musicians. Admission is only €2 for non-competitors.
There will be a pub session trail in the various pubs in the village. Details of sessions will be on posters in the windows of these establishments before and during the fleadh. We hope to have many visiting musicians in town for the fleadh so come on out and look, listen and enjoy!!
Re: Carlow Fleadh 2004 - dates for your diaries !!
Yes, Dave, but can we join in. AT the Leitrim Fleadh last year they initiated a fleadh trail which basically means that musicians were paid to play in each pub. It meant there was only about one "open" session for the week-end. Some of the sessions were definitely "closed" and I always feel a fleadh should be more free and easy. Only a thought. Best of luck and we'll give it a go.

thanks James, sounds good and the well hidden pub sounds like the place to play? Will try to make it and bring a few from Dublin and the west. Best of luck anyway.

...i'm not Dave ...however ...there are definitely "no closed" sessions and all are welcome.
even though it is a small village Leighlinbridge has 6 pubs (one well hidden) so there are plenty of places for all to play.
