Basically, it's about a spoons player who tries to hi-jack a session and the serious consequences of his actions. It's a little grim, but still quite funny....
It's about 34:15 in to the hour-long RealAudio program....

I could type it - but there are 11 long verses!!
At the weekend I was at a festival where they had a spoons workshop. The organiser then agreed the participants could do a spot in the evening concert. Big mistake!!. All through the first acts you could hear people all over the hall practising!!
For anyone wishing to learn it, the tune is a jig called "The Maid With The Bonny Brown Hair". It doesn't seem to be in the session tune section, unless it's hiding under a different name.
I am saving it for a particularly insane spoons player who 'plays' two sets at the same time and completely off the beat. Could be that the hearing aids in both his ears give a clue - perhaps an industrial deafness injury from playing the damn things all the time?
I'd like to listen to it - but i haven't got a player that'll let me do it! The site suggests a link to Real Audio player - anyone got a link to a site that does not ask for my credit card number
I've posted the air to "The Spoons Murder", which is the air to the traditional song "Maid With the Bonny Brown Hair". It's in jig time, so I've called it a jig for submission purposes. The direct link is: http://www.thesession.org/tunes/display.php/2643/ .
Session Etiquette Song
Session Etiquette Song
This week on Céilí House (http://www.rte.ie/radio1/weekend/ceilihouse/), there's a really great song about "session etiquette" -- it's called 'The Spoons Murder.'
Basically, it's about a spoons player who tries to hi-jack a session and the serious consequences of his actions. It's a little grim, but still quite funny....
It's about 34:15 in to the hour-long RealAudio program....

Re: Session Etiquette Song
It's a GREAT song. Quite gory. When I sing it, a very squeamish player in our session leaves the room. (I hope it's not my singing!)
Written by Con Fada O'Drisceoil, he sings it on "It's No Secret", with Seamus Creagh and Hammy Hamilton.

Excellent - started learning it already.

Re: Session Etiquette Song
I just sang this song to myself using the tune of "Rosin The Beau" and it seemed to fit well.
