Very very impressive! Dinnae forget I had dibsed The Promenade as well.... & those reels are half-dibsed with Zina, if the deadline gets bumped back to April anyway. Well done Deb!
Hmmm -- now I think that Leitrim Lady un-dibsed her dibses of:
Earls Chair
Fig for a Kiss
Geese in the Bog
Molly Ban
Rakish Paddy
The Leitrim Jig
Wandering Minstrel
Wedding Reel
Woman of the House
Lark in the Morning
Martin Wynnes 1,2,3
McKennas Reels
Pipe on the Hob
And now has dibsed Fig for a Kiss only. So those are also available if wanted.
Er...and for those who don't know the joke, David Alcock has dibsed/bagsy'd The Wedding Jig, although Bagsy The Wedding would be a particularly fine tune title...
Sorry for missing the undibsing. I think I will wait until later in the day to update the list. I now have it in a spreadsheet, easy to edit. I can post the update later.
Sorry to be such a pedant, but could I get a summary of what a person needs to do to join in? I know it's all in the discussions somewhere, but I get confused so easily... 8>}
Greg: Dibs your tunes, trying not to repeat any previously dibsed tunes. (If you have to, you have to.) Write Max (fiddlecrazy) and get the mailing address. Record yourself, using whatever format you like. (Follow the rules in the discussion. http://thesession.org/discussions/display.php/2633) Send the recording to Max. Wait impatiently for Tusong to re-master the tracks and send them to me, and then wait impatiently for me to send them off for replication. Order your copy from our Mixonic website page. Listen to your track (along with everyone else's) and realize that you play better now than you did then. hehe.
I think I got missed somehow...I had dibsed Goat on the Green, Pipe on the Hob (the version in D) and Garret Barry's sometime yesterday...and I'm not on either of the new lists.....hmmmmm...did I do something wrong?
Not to worry, Aoife -- probably just in-between lists! You're here now, at any rate, and I'll let you and Michael decide whether you want to argue over the Garret Barry's, if indeed it's even the same one, or just repeat.
No, you didn't do anything wrong, I just culled the list prior to your posting. Am planning on going back to previous discussions to make sure I don't miss anyone. I knew that updating frequently would be necessary. Thanks, Deb.
This is my first post so, Hi to every one.
I'd like to claim:
Dr Gilbert and The Linen Cap. There's a third one one the way if I can remember the name of it...
OK shoot, just for clarification, so peeps don't think I"m a tune hog, well I already am... solo I'm shooting for If I Had A Wife, Battering Ram (new dibs please), Promenade, Paddy O'Briens. Best Darn Irish Band in Chinle, some combination of Cul Aodha, Shandon Bells, Mug of Brown Ale & Handsome Young Maids. Then with Zina, Wyoming Picnic Set. Gee maybe Will could guest in if we do it in April? Or Richard & Aimee too? Cup of Tea, Bag o' Spuds, Bunker Hill? Would Maids of Mt Kisco fit in there? Am I being a total tune hog? I wish everyone would put in multiple tracks. Shoot.
& where are Brad & Joyce & Nell & Conan & bb & Dow & breandan & showaddy & bigdave & nick phelan & all youse lurkers! You know who you are! Nell, give us a song, will you!
How about milesnagopaleen & LongNote? *smiling sweetly*
& where are all our pipers? Cuchulain & AJ/berserker, I know you're out there. Come on youse guys! Feel the pressure of submitting a recording! It'll kick your playing into a higher gear! Chop Chop! Even if you chicken out at the last minute! No no no just kidding....
You know, coyotebanjo is conspicuously missing as well.... Is there even a representative of Australia on here besides poor Jan!
Well Gosh, Will. Perhaps you could do "My Fart will go on accompanied by my offering of "The Horse Apple Waltz". Maybe have Joe do the 20 minute Bodhran solo as backup....
Whistle set: Harvest Home, Off to California
Fiddle Set: Britches Full of Stiches, Johnnie Mickey's, Terry Teahan's Polka
That should be final.
I am getting emails asking for my address now. Keep 'em coming folks! And no, this album would not be complete without Mr. Gill. Come on everybody! Doesn't this sound like fun!?!
After going through the spreadsheet & data file I built, I am confused(daily happening!). I am going to edit/add/modify. Do you want me to keep posting an updated version???
If I can actually get my mate Jerry around to record this stuff on his Minidisk thing, we'll do The Golden Keyboard and The Otter's Holt as well as the other 2 and you can choose which you prefer. Is that acceptable?
Hey, I'd be willing to submit a recording, but the thing is I have the technology to record myself onto minidisc, but I don't have any way of getting the recording off the minidisc and onto a computer. So could I snail-mail the minidisc to someone who could do that? If so, put me down for the following:
Jigs: The Trip to Sligo/Tell Her I Am/Strike the Gay Harp
Hornpipes: Joe Cooley's/The Harp and the Shamrock
I think Tusong said that he could do that, John, so sure, fire away. Mark, sounds great, and Deb, hmmm, let me think about that one. Maybe we could do just the list by the tune? Or maybe we could put the list up on a website (like one of mine) so that we don't have to do it on a thread and just provide a link?
I have gone over the changes since I last culled and have a new and improved list. You need to tell me how you would like it/them.
YeahYeah..Sunnyside Up, Over Easy??!! I'm ahead of yas. Just let me know. I don't want to confuse anyone nor anger Jeremy with repeating myself. Thanks, Deb.
Max -- thing is, on a dibs list, people who haven't dibsed yet are going to want to go by tune, y'see...Deb, why don't you e-mail me your lists (I don't have Excel right now, by the way, but if you can get it out to a Word doc....) and I'll throw it onto the SCTLS website?
Oh, OK, that makes sense. We couldn't do both could we? Don't want to make more work for you or Deb, but if it wouldn't be any trouble, or if it's something I could do, I think it might be helpful. What's the SCTLS website?
Zina, I sent an email to work out the deets on getting file to you.
Max, I have the file in Excel format, easy to maintain & do a sort etc. If you want to work on it, let me know & I will send. BTW, never loose your enthusiasm! It's keeps old geezers like me enthused! Deb.
The Small Circle Tune Learning Session website, Max! Deb, I've got it, am going to go get a bit of late breakfast in me, and then will work on slapping it up.
LOL -- Max -- d'you see why I said I wouldn't have time to keep up with the dibs lists? ;) Deb, are you going to keep making changes to the lists, say, maybe once a day? If so, I'll keep putting 'em up. I wonder now -- should we perhaps set an arbitrary date for all dibs to be in? Say, maybe 8 March?
Hey, Deb, send the list to me, and I'll update it once a day, if you like! I am now logging on just once a day, in the evening, so that my parents can no longer say that I spend all day on the computer! I have plenty of time in the evening usually, so updating the list would be no prob for me and I could save you some work. It even sounds fun. So, unless your really getting jollies out of managing the list, I wouldn't mind doing it.
Please remove the 'Best Darn Irish Band in Chinle', it's not a tune, it's the players. Also the 'Wyoming Picnic Set' is Bag of Spuds/Cup of Tea/Bunker Hill, so you can take that off, & please add Zina to those 3 dibs too, b/c I won't play them without her, & that will only happen if the deadline is extended to the end of April anyway. Also please remove both Maids of Mitchellstown & Maids of Mt Kisco. That should leave me a total of 8 tunes; If I Had a Wife/Battering Ram/Promenade/Paddy O'Briens & Cul Aodha/Shandon Bells/Mug of Brown Ale/Handsome Young Maids.
Emily, I am putting you down for 11 tunes: The eight you mentioned, and the 3 you will be playing with Zina. Check next time the list goes up to make sure it's all correct.
Hello!
Great work everyone!
I am dibsing:
The Munster Bacon
Pipe on the Hob
Paddy Fahy's Jig(can't tell you which one)
The Pleasure of Hope
Dinkie Dorian's
Port Na bPucai
Cape Clear
Brendan's
Trip to Herve's
Now I have to try and get them in shape! :^)
Athena
OK - I'll sign up if it's not too late. Claim "Paddy Murphy's Wife" and "The Old Bush" on flute, and "The Hen's March" on whistle. Has it been decided how many times to play each tune? I would think twice would be enough. It may be obvious, but I'd also suggest all instruments used in recordings to be in concert pitch to be accessible to everybody to play along with. Also, will known composers be credited on any sleeve/liner notes?
I'd say no more than 3 times through -- but it's up to each muso. Concert pitch would be nice, but I'll leave that to the discretion of each muso. Each muso should also send the information asked for (your name/user id, location in the world, info about the tunes, and pic of themselves if they want it in the notes) and that should include composers and copyright info. (Also let us know which tracks are your favorite in case we can only do one from each person or some such because of space issues.)
The notes will not be included on the sleeve itself, but in a separate file that may be printed out on the cd by the listener. (The file will be sized to be able to be cut to fit the case.) I am asking that everyone do their own copyright and historical search, because there's no way I'm going to have time to do all of these! ;)
Is this still on the go? "Nell" recorded a mighty session in Belfast some months ago and there are a couple of tunes we played that I'd like to dibs. What are the "rules" concerning how many people are playing on each track? it was a session, but a pretty special one.
I believe the milestone for the allmighty Craic is now overdue - how mighty were the end results, and when can we expect to have a taste of the cake that now is being stirred together, hopefully with most ingredients ready??
Here now! LOL -- we're still collecting tracks, as we've had some requests for a later deadline. I haven't heard them, myself. Once they're all gathered together by Max (fiddlecrazy), they'll go to Sandy (Tusong) for mastering, then to me for repro. So it'll be a while regardless!
well, better late than never,i suppose.the tardy one has gone for: jenny picking cockles/sporting molly and the bonus(!) track of the ace&deuce of pipering.
i'll post them to max in the morning.
if i'm feeling mean i'll include a photo as well
best wishes

Re: The New Mighty Craic Dibs List
LOL -- Max -- d'you see why I said I wouldn't have time to keep up with the dibs lists? ;) Deb, are you going to keep making changes to the lists, say, maybe once a day? If so, I'll keep putting 'em up. I wonder now -- should we perhaps set an arbitrary date for all dibs to be in? Say, maybe 8 March?

Re: The New Mighty Craic Dibs List
Zina, et al, yes I'd be glad to edit list 1 a day. Will send a revision tomorrow a.m. I'm off for a pint, I earned it this week! Deb.

I may drop something else later. Thx, Mark

Re: The New Mighty Craic Dibs List
Hey, Deb, send the list to me, and I'll update it once a day, if you like! I am now logging on just once a day, in the evening, so that my parents can no longer say that I spend all day on the computer! I have plenty of time in the evening usually, so updating the list would be no prob for me and I could save you some work. It even sounds fun. So, unless your really getting jollies out of managing the list, I wouldn't mind doing it.
Thanks for puting the list out there Zina!

Re: The New Mighty Craic Dibs List
Dear Tune List Manager,
Please remove the 'Best Darn Irish Band in Chinle', it's not a tune, it's the players.
Thanks!

Re: The New Mighty Craic Dibs List
Emily, I am putting you down for 11 tunes: The eight you mentioned, and the 3 you will be playing with Zina. Check next time the list goes up to make sure it's all correct.

Re: The New Mighty Craic Dibs List
OK - I'll sign up if it's not too late. Claim "Paddy Murphy's Wife" and "The Old Bush" on flute, and "The Hen's March" on whistle. Has it been decided how many times to play each tune? I would think twice would be enough. It may be obvious, but I'd also suggest all instruments used in recordings to be in concert pitch to be accessible to everybody to play along with. Also, will known composers be credited on any sleeve/liner notes?
# Posted on March 7th 2004 by Kenny
Re: The New Mighty Craic Dibs List
I'd say no more than 3 times through -- but it's up to each muso. Concert pitch would be nice, but I'll leave that to the discretion of each muso. Each muso should also send the information asked for (your name/user id, location in the world, info about the tunes, and pic of themselves if they want it in the notes) and that should include composers and copyright info. (Also let us know which tracks are your favorite in case we can only do one from each person or some such because of space issues.)
The notes will not be included on the sleeve itself, but in a separate file that may be printed out on the cd by the listener. (The file will be sized to be able to be cut to fit the case.) I am asking that everyone do their own copyright and historical search, because there's no way I'm going to have time to do all of these! ;)

Re: The New Mighty Craic Dibs List
Is it too late to dibs some tunes? if not I will do `carraroe jig/billy rush`s jig and possibly trip to sligo.

Nope, not too late.

Re: The New Mighty Craic Dibs List
Is this still on the go? "Nell" recorded a mighty session in Belfast some months ago and there are a couple of tunes we played that I'd like to dibs. What are the "rules" concerning how many people are playing on each track? it was a session, but a pretty special one.
On one of the tunes I'm playing bodhr

Re: The New Mighty Craic Dibs List
I believe the milestone for the allmighty Craic is now overdue - how mighty were the end results, and when can we expect to have a taste of the cake that now is being stirred together, hopefully with most ingredients ready??

Re: The New Mighty Craic Dibs List
