who would be at your ideal session ...anyone from any era....
.......yes I know it's very similar to the ' what would you put in yer profile' ..but I've just seen the ad on TV for the "Carlsberg don't do holidays, but if they did........ " and my fingers just got typing and I pressed that button ....sorry Steve
Re: Carlsberg don't do sessions, but if they did........
But if youre talking sessions, The Galway and/or Ennis crew (Siobhan Peoples, Mirella Murray, Tola Custy, Kevin Dorris, Padraig Rynne etc), nice quiet pub, lots of free beer and designated drivers who have no problem with us playing till dawn.
Re: Carlsberg don't do sessions, but if they did........
We are pretty starved here for tunes. Once a week is just not enough. In fact -there is one regular session I attend a week and your lucky if you can hear yourself above the noise. Having said that, they are a great bunch of people. Its not their fault we live in a country where Trad music = 'whiskey in the jar'.
Re: Carlsberg don't do sessions, but if they did........
Have you seen the Carlsberg Ad where the old woman entices the delivery man into her home for a cup of tea (or whatever) and he falls through the secret trap door in the floor? This might be a good way to dispose of unwelcome percussionists at sessions but they would be unlikely to come equipped with a lorry load of Carlsberg, unfortunately. :>))
Re: Carlsberg don't do sessions, but if they did........
Oh, by the way, BB. I like Carslberg but preferably that which is brewed in Denmark itself. It's much nicer. Of course, the Guinness was always better in Ireland too, although it's usually OK elsewhere now. I don't like the extra cold stuff, though.
Re: Carlsberg don't do sessions, but if they did........
I have to say - we aussie's apparently have awful taste in beer - not fosters.....no one drinks that here- but I do drink Tooheys New (the shame) I dont mind carlsberg - I drank it when I lived in Ireland - closest thing to an aussie beer they had....more is the pity
Re: Carlsberg don't do sessions, but if they did........
... they'd be giving out free Guinness.
... no matter how much you drank, you'd never get more than nicely merry.
... there'd be no such thing as "last orders".
... strings would never break.
... the groupies would look like the Corrs sisters.
... unaccompanied solo male singing punishable by death.
... no-one's a better player of your instrument than you.

Apart from a very few occasions, our Friday session is already perfect, and I wouldn't change it.

Re: Carlsberg don't do sessions, but if they did........
Would Grolsch drinkers prefer slow sessions then? Just a thought...
Match the beer to the session!
