Sean, me old pal, me old beauty........
.....that's not an auction at that starting price, frankly.
If that's the minimum you're prepared to sell it at, fine by me. But I always reckon that it's better to have a much lower starting price, and a hidden reserve, being the lowest you will actually sell it for.
Yeah, maybe you get charged extra by ebay for having a reserve, but then you might actually have got some offers. As it was, no-one was prepared to make a bid that high as a starter, so you're still having to pay ebay their commission for nothing.
As the old lady said "You've got to let the dog see the rabbit". You might have provoked a feeding frenzy, with a bit of luck. After all, who doesn't look on ebay for that elusive bargain ?
Anyway, good luck, and try again.
Oh, sorry, that wasn't you selling it ?
My mistake then.
But seriously, maybe the economy is making people think carefully about what they spend their money. It's a shame when it's you on the stand flogging your pride and joy though.
....and then I look and it's not over yet. I was under the misapprehension the time had expired with no offers.
Mea Culpa.
My apologies.
But still, I reckon, there's no incentive to put in a bid because the start price is so high.
I hope, for your sake, I'm wrong in that respect.
( Memo to self, check all facts before opening mouth or loosing fingers on keyboard.......)
It's becoming a Dutch auction.....
...currently listed at a starting price of 4,050.00 euros, or buy it now for 4,5000.00 euros.
I'm gonna wait till it's down to 3000 euros.......LOL...
.....obviously my remark about encouraging a feeding frenzy with a low starting price and a hidden reserve fell on deaf ears.
What can you expect from a man who'd sell a Sobell cittern ?
Severe lack of auditory response in the middle and upper frequencies.
Ebay...
Ebay...
A Stefan Sobell 10 string cittern on ebay ends tomorrow for anyone that has interest in one.
Very nice instrument...
