Re: Do banjo players have happier female partners?

Happier than what? Happier than being immersed half-hourly in a bath of boing oil and having one's ears poked out by insane monkeys with hawthorn sticks? Yes ... just ...

Re: Do banjo players have happier female partners?

Most fiddlers I know have more than a secret passing interest in the tenor banjo, especially the shorties.

The happier female partner bit depends on the tunes played, she was well happy when I bought my last cannon though, ha ha. As she got the previous dispenser of twang (I believe thats was her real motive behind what she saw in me; ).

I've had a few banjos previously, all bought by fiddlers, don't know but it could be a revenge thing.

Re: Do banjo players have happier female partners?

Yes, there is a secret pact amongst fiddlers. Whenever we see a banjo for sale we buy it.

One day we'll own them all, and the world will be a quieter and better place.

"Most fiddlers I know have more than a secret passing interest in the tenor banjo, especially the shorties."

Why, what do the tall ones prefer?

# Posted on March 30th 2010 by Skull Duggeraigh Dubh

Re: Do banjo players have happier female partners?

"Why, what do the tall ones prefer?"

If they're anything like me it'll be a tartan mini kilt and knee length white pop socks. Although this is my preference, I'm quite prepared to make do with the tartan mini kilt : )

skreech, are you telling me that it is a revenge thing after all?

Re: Do banjo players have happier female partners?

duij, it depends if they spot the codpiece or not, but the that only happens when I play standing, to the words, "it aint heavy it's my codpiece", or should that be "banjo"..........

# Posted on March 30th 2010 by Solidmahog

Re: Do banjo players have happier female partners?

Re: Do banjo players have happier female partners?

I find it more comfortable than one of my G strings, the thiner string I now use (since moving to a longer scale) are causing me problems down under ; )

Re: Do banjo players have happier female partners?

Ok, it works both ways if you missed it previously.

I'm sorry but I have to ask. What exactly is "boing oil?" I don't want my imagination to get carried away.

Re: Do banjo players have happier female partners?

he means bong oil silly

# Posted on March 30th 2010 by Skull Duggeraigh Dubh

Re: Do banjo players have happier female partners?

Oh. It was a typo? So it's bong oil. Got it. Silly me.

What's bong oil?

Re: Do banjo players have happier female partners?

I didn't realize lubrication was such an issue with water-filtered smoking apparatus. Ya learn something new every day.

Re: Do banjo players have happier female partners?

Brings a whole new meaning to "scale length"...

# Posted on March 30th 2010 by Reverend

Re: Do banjo players have happier female partners?

I'm picturing a bunch of stoners sitting around thinking of ways to make a smoking apparatus out of a banjo.

# Posted on March 30th 2010 by Jimmy B

Re: Do banjo players have happier female partners?

I can't believe I said "boing oil". I even had to re-read it about 5 times before I noticed anything was wrong. (In case any banjo players are reading, I meant B-O-I-L-I-N-G oil. You have spell these things out.)

Re: Do banjo players have happier female partners?

If I find my wife has a female partner I'm calling my lawyer ( written to the background sounds of a 5-string banjo drifting up the stairs....).
But I can play it too.

Re: Do banjo players have happier female partners?

I think you can get boing oil in Australia.

Yes, I thought that initially Jimmy. Then I remembered what you played ... (heh heh) 8-)

Re: Do banjo players have happier female partners?

I'm only a recent banjo plucker. Not long enough to know how my wife feels about it yet. ;-)

Re: Do banjo players have happier female partners?

I think you can get boing oil in the States actually, but you might get a one-way ticket to somewhere else as well:

Re: Do banjo players have happier female partners?

you don't make smoking apparatusii out of banjos! Geez, gimme a break.
You make them out of uilleann pipe bellows of course.
Think outside the square.

# Posted on March 31st 2010 by Skull Duggeraigh Dubh

Re: Do banjo players have happier female partners?

....and here was me thinking you were all a little square, boom boom....... Or should that be bong bong.

eb I knew you meant boiling ; )

Anybody harming a tenor banjo is a heretic and deserves burning like a well done steak. Just saying like....

# Posted on March 31st 2010 by Solidmahog

Re: Do banjo players have happier female partners?

What about someone who tries to harm a fiver banjo instead of a tenor banjo?

A Banjo Hookah?

Since my wife seems to be imperfectly happy married to a piano player, I am not going to try to learn to play a banjo or some other instrument.
