To all my fellow Irish/Celtic musicians with gigs today: May our audiences be appreciative, our fans adoring (and suggestible); may our compensation be lucrative, our fringe benefits digestible. Play mighty, travel safely.
Hear hear, and may the sun come out and the rain stop. Doing two sets outside later at a block party. We may invite the whole crowd into the beer tent to stay dry.
May the ridiculously loud hand-driers in the adjacent loos break down terminally and may the guy who was making such a racket on Monday dancing around and yelling at the top of his voice still be suffering from a hangover
May the green on your tortilla be as tasty as pesto and sliced avocados. Today, I will bake a stout cake and jam with the "one and only Kenny Hall, " in Fresno tonight at the Santa Fe Basque Restaurant. He is a living Irish party!
Back home after a very successful gig, our set list balanced things just right, really hit the spot with the audience. Now if only I could become rich and famous enough to get roadies so I don't have to hump around speakers and amps and whatnot!
All the best to all of you, hope your day was as good as mine!
For the first time in my life yesterday I saw a "band" who didn't speak to the audience at all during an hour and a half. Breaks between songs were as long as the songs. But one of them used six different instruments.
We can't possibly be as bad as that when we play tomorrow. Has anybody else done a St. Pat's gig at a Portuguese place?

No, but I'm doing one tomorrow at a green-friendly 'Eco-Cafe'.
Can you enjoy jigs and reels while munching granola and hugging trees? We'll see!
