I am looking for a harp to play Irish music. One friend of mine has a Larry Egar harp. Any idea where I would find a similar type of harp. Someone suggested a Fisher. I would like a second hand harp as money is not very plentiful at the moment. Any suggestions of where to advertise?
Phil
Most people get rid of harps because they're knackered (the harps, not the people, although that's possibly true too) or because they bought one that wasn't that good. But good luck to you...wherever you live!
Polite suggestion:
1/ Join thession.org
2/ Identify yourself (a little) with general location, instrument(s) played, areas of interest, and perhaps one or two other items.
3/ Make your comments/ask your questions.
Think of the different responses you might get if you introduced yourself to your neighbour and chatted for a minute, as opposed to shouting from across the street.
This is not singling you out, mics4macs, just one of my periodic requests.
Try Pilgrim harps (Godstone, Surrey) they used to produce a kit, with all the technically tricky stuff done for you - you just finish off the wood and throw it together - It works and they are lovely instruments.

Re: Want a harp where to advertise
There was a 2nd hand harp advertised on www.footstompin.com yesterday. I've no idea what type it is. It was advertised in the discussion forum.

Re: Want a harp where to advertise
or try Harplist on Yahoo - it's the grand-daddy of all harp communities, and people often have harps for sale.

Three second-hand harps (all look pretty good bets to me) on harplist (see my posting for URL).
Or don't bother, if you're not going to tell us anything about yourself.
