Who are the contributors ?

Who are the contributors ?

I suddenly noticed, on my computer, there are no names on the end of the individual postings.
Have we all been rendered anonymous ?
JEREMY !

Re: Who are the contributors ?

Have a look at the how to play recordings thread. :-D

Re: Who are the contributors ?

Is this the perfect opportunity to say all sorts of contraversial stuff anonymously?

Re: Who are the contributors ?

Nah...
Jeremy knows where you live...

Re: Who are the contributors ?

This reminds me of the night the power went off and we all played in the dark

You mean shagged in the dark

HEY NOW!

Re: Who are the contributors ?

I know what happened. Jeremy just moved, right? Obviously, the Member log got packed somewhere, it hasn't been unpacked yet, and now we're just all sort of stuck until he finally unpacks that one box with the Member info in it.

Re: Who are the contributors ?

I remember way back, in the early 70's there was a Dr. Demento parody song called, "Locked In The Closet With You"...

Re: Who are the contributors ?

Hello my name is Sashiko and I am a session-aholic :)

Re: Who are the contributors ?

You've come to the right place. This is actually a 12 (half)step program.

Re: Who are the contributors ?

It's going to be great fun looking at this discussion again tomorrow when all the names are restored :) (sash again)

Re: Who are the contributors ?

The 'hol' in 'alcoholic' comes from 'alcohol'. There is no 'hol' in the word 'session'. Therefore, one who is addicted to sessions is a 'sessionic'.

Re: Who are the contributors ?

Darn.. I only wish I had something really witty to say right about now...

# Posted on February 25th 2010 by JosephC

Re: Who are the contributors ?

No, it actually means he is addicted to sessionahol, a family of hydrocarbons similar to alcohol, but far more debilitating.

As well as the username thing, you (or at least I) can't access any tunes. If I click on a tune in the Tunes page, it just takes me straight to the Tunes page. In other words, it just refreshes the page I'm on.

Re: Who are the contributors ?

In space nobody can hear you scream, so here goes...aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh !!!!
Now who would write a stupid thing like this?

Nameless members

At last, 'Gan ainm' comes into its own!

Jeremy?

Re: Who are the contributors ?

To the gentle pedant who criticised the etymology of my made-up word "session-aholic I would like to say... You are quite right. I should have said "session.org-aholic" . Because of course there is no alcohol in Session.org but quite a lot of alcohol in sessions :)

Am I the only person here who doesn't want to be anonymous? What does this say about the size of my ego? And yours ? :)

Re: Who are the contributors ?

"Hello my name is Sashiko and I am a session-aholic"

The first step toward reclaiming your life is admitting you have a problem. This you have done.
The second step is acknowledging a higher power (Jeremy).

Re: Nameless members

Ah, now we know what it feels like to be Gan Ainm!

Perhaps actually we're more like Paddy Fahey tunes, except we're "Jeremy's No. 1", "Jeremy's No. 2", "Jeremy's No. 62,000"...

Re: Who are the contributors ?

Anyone fancy a game of "guess the member"?

# Posted on February 25th 2010 by sashiko calico

Re: Nameless members

And further to that, tune information doesn't come up when one clicks on the link......drat....[another nameless one]

# Posted on February 25th 2010 by baylady

Re: Nameless members

I recently bought a Kane Sisters CD where there are no less than 9 different tunes called "Fahey's" !

not quite true - it's like the members cutoff point, except the cutoff isn't 125 eg

this works
http://www.thesession.org/tunes/display/1

but this doesn't

Nameless GAME!

Okay, it has come to our collective attention that we are all currently without names. We can, for a short time, say whatever the hell we like, and no-one'll know!!

So let's play a game. I will start a controversial discussion, and all you thesession.org-ers will reply as you usually would. Let's see if we can distinguish each other by the type of replies we make!

Right:
At the session last night, the music-stand I was using fell over and broke my friend's bodhran. I think it's because when a punter came over to put a coin in the tip-jar, he accidentally knocked it, and as the music stand was rather top-heavy, due to the amount of sheet music on it, it toppled.
It wasn't too bad, as there were four more bodhran players at the session, and one of them had a spare anyway, but it made me think: music stands can be quite hazardous. what do you seasoned sessioners do about sheet music? Is there some kind of sturdy music stand I haven't come across, especially for Irish music pubs?

Many thanks....

Re: Who are the contributors ?

I noodle Celtic songs from sheet music on bodhran in a session performance. I feel better now.

Say 3 Hail Merry Blacksmiths, and 4 Our Father Kelly's and
go and sin no more.

Get your piano tuned this week. Support the local economy.

Re: Nameless GAME!

There's a virtual music stand which appears when you join the dots; otherwise, you've got to play it by ear and see what happens.

# Posted on February 25th 2010 by amhrán

Re: Nameless GAME!

I refer my honorable friend to the postings on the other threads that are much funnier than this one.

Re: Who are the contributors ?

Right. Once again, I can only apologise. Once more, the database seems to have become corrupted: that's the second time this week.

I need to have a word with my hosting company.

Again: I'm sorry.

Back to the music.

Re: Who are the contributors ?

Sashiko calico.....ego? Ego? What ego?
it is possible to be an alcoholic without drinking anything. If you are a railfan and you like the locomotives built by the American Locomotive Company (otherwise known as ALCO), you could be an ALCOholic.

Re: Who are the contributors ?

I may have mis-spoken in my earlier post. What I meant to say was "I like f#s blunted when fiddling the pure drop tune whose name I don't remember but that my grandfather got from the daoine beag."

# Posted on February 25th 2010 by fidkid

Re: Who are the contributors ?

I don't know which post to provide a snappy reply to. There are so many good targets!

I just figured the no name poster was selling health food and spa memberships. We are such a likely demographic for that type of product ;-)

Happy Birthday Jeremy

very interesting fauxcelt. In my country we call them "trainspotters" :)

Re: Who are the contributors ?

The anonymous silliness of the recordings thread got deleted. How sad!!

# Posted on February 26th 2010 by DrSilverSpear

Re: Who are the contributors ?

We still have the silliness of midi files.

# Posted on February 26th 2010 by Ben Steen

Re: Who are the contributors ?

They will forever stay I fear.

OK, this website was conceived at a time when hard drive space and band width made impossible the practicalities of making recordings available. But times have moved on and the midi files, every last feckin one of them, should be deleted immediatly.

They won't be though.

Re: Who are the contributors ?

Thank you sashiko calico. Since I am a railfan, one of the other web sites which I participate in is called "railroad.net". Although it is based here in the U.S., railroad.net does have several members from other countries (including yours). As a result, I am familiar with the term "trainspotter".
