Re: Buskers Wanted for Festival!!

Where *on earth* are Ballybofey and Stranorlar?!

They sound utterly outlandish and quite appealing.

Re: Buskers Wanted for Festival!!

They're two small but busy towns in east Donegal. From the Irish 'Srath an Urláir' (strath, probably low valley and 'floor') and 'Bealach Féich' (Feich's Road). A nice part of the world.

Tommy Peoples comes from nearby St Johnston.

Re: Buskers Wanted for Festival!!

Ballybofey and Stranorlar are known as 'The Twin Towns' since they're separated only by a narrow bridge across the River Finn. The former may be unique in Ireland since it's a town which has neither churches nor schools (all of which are across the river), though it does possess Donegal's only League of Ireland football team, Finn Harps.

St. Johnston's some twenty miles distant from Ballybofey/Stranorlar, amrhán, so not exactly nearby, though Tommy Peoples was the artist in residence at the Balor Theatre for a while.
