I'd just like to take the opportunity to wish everyoe here at The Session the very best. for this season and the New Year.
I do not get the chance to visit very often; I suffered some serious tendon damage in my left forearm ( Kenny you have been through this! ) but I do thank those members who've contacted me to ensure I'm OK.
May I take the opportunity too to thank Jeremy for the gift of this site and long may it prosper in its proper mode!
15-20 inches of snow !!! ....jeez what I would'nt give for some of that...
Today, here on the East Coast of Australia it's 34 deg. C. and Humidity is at 100% ....uuugghhhh ! I'm melting away ..
Merry Christmas to all, from Wellesley, Mass, just west of Boston, where it's 28 F and about 8 inches of snow on the ground from a storm last weekend. Happy tunes to us all in the new year.
We had the big build up, a few days at around 44 Celsius (111.2 F), lots of cloud and unusually high humidity, a severe storm/floods/trees down warning for Christmas Eve ... but it didn't happen ... phew! Just a fresh wind that rattled the verticals and wisked away the lingering stale air. Lovely Christmas ... hope yours was likewise. Tunes? Well! Who knows what 2010 will bring. Here's hoping for everyone.
It's great to hear tales of the weather. Here in southern Michigan it's freezing rain, but lovely to hear of all those places where it's much better or much worse, whatever your preference. I'd rather have Chuck's snow than the Zoukboy's heat.
2 deg C here in S. London, UK. Tried going for a run shortly after a Christmas breakfast with friends. Gave up after 2 miles. Best to stick to beers, turkey and Dr. Who on Christmas day. The wee boy got a trumpet from Santa. Not trad, I know but he hasn't stopped making noises out of it since. Best for the fest to all.
Hi Brian, great to hear signs of life from you. Hope the tendon recovers quickly and that our paths might cross this year. Forty five minutes till Dr Who...
Snow arrived in the UK last Thursday. Closest we have come to a white Christmas in years here in South London. A few inches of snow and a bit of ice and life is disrupted. Nice to imagine all you in the South Hemisphere basking in the heat Happy Christmas.
Snow lying in Durham, UK. Took the lid and hatch-door off the compost bin to fork over the contents and let the robin and other birds forage in it. Our large holly bush has been clean stripped of a heavy crop of berries, which the blackbirds leave alone till the first real cold snap of the winter. Perhaps they prefer protein to vitamin C and roughage - like me. Redwings might have been, but they're shy and hard to see clearly - they skulk in the bush or else take off before I can get near them.
We've had to make our own amusements, like watching the erstwhile rogue financial capital of the world being crucified by the elements yet again. Except that this time, what London was getting we were getting too. Still, it kills the rats and the bugs, which have been a bit too many in the garden. Can't think why, it barely grows enough to feed a woodlouse, let alone a rat (I'm afraid I'm mean about feeding the birds, because of the latter).
From Newfoundland. A bit wet and mauzy, typical for this time of year. Washed away all the snow we had two weeks ago
But said snow supposed to return soon. Time to play some tunes with my daughter the fiddler and my three your old son, for whom Santa just bought a little Chinese squeezebox
Merry Christmas from Madison, where it has been raining, snowing and sleeting for the past two days... Most of our 20 inches of snow is gone, but at lest the roads have cleared up!! =)
A little above freezing point here at the foot of the French Pyrénées, with bits of random weather thrown this way and that. Last week we got the cold snap (roughly -5C.), but now we're getting highs in the tens in the afternoon.
I am glad to read that everyone is enjoying such Wonderful winter weather (he said sarcastically). The weather here is cold and clear with nothing falling from the sky and temperatures which are either just above or below freezing.
The cat says, "Meowy Chrismouse and Happy Mew Year" and the cow says, "Moowy Christmas and Happy Moo Year" to everybody.
And, last but not least, I thought (Dr.) Who Was On First.
Merry Christmas to all. If, like me, you go to see Sherlock Holmes at the movies, you will hear a few tunes in the background that you may recognize. You may also see one too many explosions. Is subtlety dead in the movies?
Quite!; and what a sensible thing to do - Christmas in New Zealand! Just lovely - a mixture of England, Scotland, Ireland, Switzerland, Austria and Lord of the Rings, a lot like Patagonia I think. Little England without the horrible weather. Etc.
If Oz is a little too much to take in summer, what a great alternative.
Don't tell anyone.
Christmas Greetings to The Session
