Tin whistler to form a band around Dublin or elsewhere in Ireland
Tin whistler to form a band around Dublin or elsewhere in Ireland
Hello everyone !
I'm french and I'm living in Paris.
I will soon finish my studies and be coming to dublin around march 2010.
That's why I'd like to form a band there. But before coming, I'd like to find musician through the internet first. What I propose you is start to work together through the internet. Like do a cover for example. We can use tools like audacity files and hosting files websites. I've already done that with a french band, people who were living too far away from Paris in france.
The type of band I like is bands like Toto, The Pogues, The Dropkick Murphy's, Greenday, the Corrs, Crannberries and Metallica. The music I'd like to create with you would be a medley of those different style. I play the tin whistle and can sing (I don't like my voice but I can sing well enough). To let you get an idea of my level on the tin whistle, here's a sample below :
I have already written some songs and worked on some trad tunes.
So any guitar player, drums/bodhran, piano, bass, violin player would be welcome ! Especially girls as the songs I already written are kind of very girlish But boys are welcome also of course ! And musicians from any other parts of the world also for the moment !
Let me know if you'd like to play with me !!
People of 20 to 25/26 years old would be great...I'm 22. ;)
I leave you an e-mail adress in case you would be interested, even though I'd prefer you to contact me through this site directly
Also, to let you know, I've written 14 songs. They're all composed with melody lines and few harmonies, but all in a very raw way. And there is some instrumental going with it.
There is one song in particular, the title track, which is completely over. If you'd like to here a bit of it, let me know and I'll send you it !
Re: Tin whistler to form a band around Dublin or elsewhere in Ireland
Nice enough playing and best of luck to you but there are many many very good players around where you're going who would not want to be in bands, but if you're courageous enough it may pay off. Why don't you join in with the many quality sessions there for a couple of years to develop your reputation and get contacts. That would seem a safer way to go.
Re: Tin whistler to form a band around Dublin or elsewhere in Ireland
Okay you're right ! Thanks you very much for your advice and help Claire ! Well I'm kind of a beginner, I don't play for that much long time...so yeah, I guess would be better developp first the whistle playing :D
@ Dave : Well there are not that much pub around Paris. I miss this atmosphere a lot (I've already been to Dublin once and that's were I became absolutely fond of trad irish music and got my first whistles ). In paris there are few pubs but but sometimes pub boss don't want people to play in their pub, or they have bands playing but not trad irish music. They're playing everything that is said to be popular in music... And I'm dying to find musicians around Paris to begin practicing a lot, but where are the irish music in Paris ??? I really don't know ! :(
