I got a fishman pick up for my fiddle, but when I play though it, it picks up a rubbing sound from the bow (Sounds awfull). I've recently had a new bridge fitted, not sure if its something to do with that as i've used a fishmans before and didn't have this problem. Any ideas what it might be?
Do you have a preamp as well or are you plugging straight into the desk? A good preamp like the Fishman Platinum will help a lot but in my experience the Fishman Pick Up tends to sound a bit harsh.
Bridge pickups are always prone to bow noise, but if it has suddenly got worse after fitting a new bridge there are a couple of things to try:
First of all make sure you've got the pickup the right way up - contact side up, spring down.
Secondly make sure the wing slot of the bridge isn't too tight - the pickup shouldn't be wedged in hard. I can't remember what the slot width should be, but the max and min figures are in the Fishman manual.
Thirdly try moving the pickup about a bit - a small change of position can have a big effect on response.
Problems with my pick up.

Re: Problems with my pick up.
You might also try turning the bass control right down on your amp.
