Do ya mean 'old' tune? Ancient is like Beowulf or the Mabinogi, Psalms, the Rig Veda...
Old tunes I like the classics- Cooleys, Morrisons, Monaghan,Listowel Hornpipe/Bonaparte's Retreat... so many...none that I don't like....I'm partial to the early recordings made in New York.
Not sure if it's an ancient tune, or even Irish for that matter ...but I started singing "The Four Marys" recently, and really like the air of that tune.
Kingsfold is high on my list. But I had always thought that it was a Vaugham Williams arrangement of an english relative of the tune for "The star of County Down".
An ancient tune which started life as a jig with Irish Roots and now used as the Signature Tune of the BBC overseas service.
'LIlliburlero' was sung around the time of the Battle of the Boyne and the lyrics related to Irish Politics around 1680/90s. The song is suppose to parody the believe in an old prophecy found in a Irish bog, that Ireland would be ruled by a dog and an ass. Well that bit seems to have come true anyway. Lilliburlero is a garbled version of the Irish words - Lie ba léir é, ba linn an lá - Lily was clear and ours was the day.

Kingsfold. My favorite. A modern version is "I Heard The Voice Of Jesus Say"

Re: Favorite Ancient Tune
I'm quite taken by a slip jig set, The Humours of Kilkenny / Drops of Springwater - Can't get enough of playing them lately.
But for really ancient classics, you be hard pressed to top Beat on the Brat by The Ramones

Kingsfold isn't coming up if I search in the tunes section -- anyone know if it's in there or available elsewhere?

Re: Favorite Ancient Tune
Yes, definitely Dives And Lazarus - as I know Kingsfold.
Noble Squire Dacre - a simple but strong air from the old Northumbrian pipes repertoire.
Two Christmas carols whose tunes I believe go back a long way:
Of The Father's Love Begotten (Translated from a very early Latin original - I don't know where the tune originated);
The Angel Gabriel From Heaven Came (French).

Re: Favorite Ancient Tune
Hearing the Agincourt Hymn made me want to learn to play the pipe organ back in my dewy youth. (I did, after a fashion.) Love those intervals.
I was a pretty geeky kid. Not that I'm geeky now. Nope.

Re: Favorite Ancient Tune
Tabhair Dom Do Lamh (aka Give me your hand) by Ruairi Dall O'Cathain (c. 1570 -1650). That's a great, enduring tune.
