Re: box

I think he's OK, or her, or...perhaps he's a genderless spirit entity from the otherworld, just briefly stopping by our reality to bring us garbled enlightenment?

So does anyone use the air button on their box?

Me? No, I never use that button when I'm playing air box. It looks kinda funny with me squeezing some imaginary bellows, you betcha.

Re: box

I use the air button on my harmonica. It's a twin carb setup though in times of sinus trouble part of the venturi mechanism breaks down. Which I suppose is why God gave me two nostrils and not one.

Re: box

How do you manage playing any tune on a BC box without using the air button ? or do you choose only tunes that use the same amount of air pushing or pulling ? if you do that, you'll be quite limited... 2-3 tunes maybe ?
The air button is just about the most important button on the box, and you have to use it at need... but the listener musn't - ever - notice you're using it...

Re: box

I play tunes not air key, but I'm intrigued by your thoughts.

Dodger, I bet you don't play many tunes in A major on that box of yours

Re: box

by the way, Dodger, for how long have you been playing ? your profile doesn't say anything...

Re: box

actually I think that the air key spends more time open than closed on my box

Re: box

I fear I rather deliberately missed the point :)

Yes, I think I'm lucky too :) good or not's another matter

Re: box

The air button is really important.

Best used in little bites than big gulps I've found. Keeps the bellows from getting out of control...a big challenge for me

Re: box

well, if you avoid buttons as you avoid answering, I guess you don't need the air button... the whole thing looks like a wind-up anyway...
