Soft Button Accordion Cases

Soft Button Accordion Cases

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for a soft case for my Paolo Soprani Old Grey box. Can anyone recommend any good, strong, snug cases, suitable for taking on aircraft, to festivals, etc?

Thanks in advance for your help.

check out the Button Box. They have different kinds of concertina and accordian gig bags and hardshell cases.

Re: Soft Button Accordion Cases

I know someone who had purchased a padded hardshell case for theirs, which I'd always recommend over soft to anything else, and they were able to take the case with the instrument inside as carry-on luggage, and it fit in the overhead compartment. This was on an economy flight, and nobody bothered to weight it either. As to where to look, tell us what continent you're on at least. 'The Button Box' is good for North America...

An old grey Paolo Soprani, I can but dream, but have had one in hand, a friend let me squeeze. I wouldn't want anything else for such a treasure except a hardshell case...

I'm living in London. Originally from Tyrone, NI. Have a great hardcase for the box, but just looking into a strong hard case as its easier to carry. Thanks for you help so far everyone.

Not really sure what soft buttons are, but since you're in London you might want to get down to this neck of the woods and check out Mr Allodi's shop in Lee Green, near Lewisham. Check out numbers 512 513 or 514 on this webpage:

Re: Soft Button Accordion Cases

I bought a soft backpack from Hobgoblin Music last time I was in the UK. I didn't have the box with me on the trip, so imagine my relief when it fitted like a glove. I've used nothing since, and it's a whole world easier to carry than the hard case I started with - it doesn't catch the back of your knee, and it has straps! It's still going strong, having been dragged to hundreds of sessions and around major festivals, with occasional doses of Guinness added. The stitching is coming apart by the handle, but then it gets a LOT of abuse.

The only negative thing is that there isn't a separate area for music - the books we used for the beginners' sessions eventually got tatty, but the box has been fine in it, and mine's natural wood, which isn't as tough as pearloid.

The ability to wear it as a backpack is to me a real godsend.

One more negative - you can't sit on it if there's no free seats available... :-)

I bought a soft gigbag from Hobgoblin too at their Leeds shop. It came apart and they replaced it without question when I was at Whitby!
