I've decided to take the plunge and take up the banjo, after thinking about it for far too long.
The only problem I'm having is finding lessons. Whenever I do a Google search, all the links to tutors I find are outdated.
In addition to the places mentioned above there will be banjo lessons at CCE branches the irish Minstrels (St Roches) in the east end of glasgow on tuesday nights; Johnny Doherty's motherwell/Shotts on wednesdyas; and St Pat's in coatbrisge on saturday mornings (I think).
St James is in Pollock and meets on a Monday. Tam Patterson is taking the Banjo/Mandolin class this year. There are a couple of adults who started in the last month or so that are completely new to the banjo. This year I have a class at the same time for adults on a range of instruments including some on banjo and mandolin.
There should be a fair few options available for you depending ion what night suits you best. Feel free to drop me a message if you want contact info for any of the CCE branches.

Hi everyone,
I've decided to take the plunge and take up the banjo, after thinking about it for far too long.

Does anyone know of any banjo tutors in Glasgow?
All the best,
Tom

For Irish tenor banjo the details of all the schools of Irish Music in the Glasgow area can be found here

If it is a more Scottish flavour you are looking at then the Glasgow Fiddle Workshop may suit your needs.

I believe our very own Ramblingpitchfork teaches banjo for the St. James Comhaltas branch. Come to the Oran Mor on a Wednesday and ask around.

Re: Banjo Lessons in Glasgow, Scotland
Celine Donoghue teaches tenor banjo at Glasgow Fiddle Workshop so I am sure there will be as much Irish as Scottish stuff in her lessons.

Asking in the Oran Mor session is also good advice.
Good luck with the new toy. Say goodbye to your friends. It is all downhill from here banjo boy!

Re the Oran Mor, myself and Tam are there pretty much every week from around 9:30. I'm not 100% sure about being there tonight though.
