I was at the under twelve dancing this year and saw some great dancing .
One in particular was the little girl with red shoes.I can't remember her name.
But I thought she was by far the best dancer there. She did not qualified in the top six kids for the next day.
I thought the judging on the kids was a disaster I didnt get to see the grown ups I moved onto the under12 sean nos singing which by the way was also great.
I was very disappointed with some of the sean nos dancing competitors in the senior competition. There were some brilliant dancers but those that did not dance sean nos took away from the competition. It gave the wrong impression to viewers as to what sean nos dancing really is. Please get it right next time or dont hold it at all.
I think the lad with the wellies on should have stayed at home. He made a laugh of the competition. It might be accepted at a wellie throwing festival for a bit of fun but not on television where a competition was taking place. It downgraded the whole event.

Re: Oireachtas 2009
yes I agree seems to be a problem with the dancing every year
Certainly something that should be reviewed by the oireachtas

What did ye think of the lad that danced with his wellies on? I missed old Johnny Connolly playing the tunes!

Re: Oireachtas 2009
How did he get on there? Do they not have a qualifying round?

Re: Oireachtas 2009
no qualifying round for adults seems kind of stange that any one could walk out there on live tv ! And then they limited the under 12s to only 6 .

Re: Oireachtas 2009
A similar thing happened last year when one of the dancers ended the dance on his knee's Micky Jackson style!
