what is irish music...is it all just one big riff played over and over
what is irish music...is it all just one big riff played over and over
i ve been playing trad fiddle now for about 3 weeks and think i have about master it. all it really is, is a few riffs played over and over again, there is nothing to it! i just want to know how do you all make names for them all?
Re: what is irish music...is it all just one big riff played over and over
I get barred for a month, on a regular basis, for speaking the truth, yet we regularly get all these tramps turning up and pi$$ing on your flowers but hey thats ok............
Re: what is irish music...is it all just one big riff played over and over
I can't believe you guys haven't set this guy straight yet. Everyone knows there are TWO riffs in Irish music, the reel riff that goes diddle diddle diddle diddle, and that jiggy thing that goes diddley, diddley, diddley, diddley.
This seems as good a place as any to send a message to eleyne, about a wee bit of editing.
Since I mentioned Bobby Casey, I looked him up; & voila ~

If you want to troll on this forum I'm afraid you'll have to get more informed about the subject than your, frankly, pathetic and superficial attempt here.
Your basic trolling approach is OK but it fails on the way you try to use hackneyed old clichés. Try and be more subtle. The secret of a good troll is to be taken seriously thus winding up the regulars. This acyually involves a deep understanding of the subject or people you want to amuse yourself with. Your postings are rather poor. And a more neutral nom de plume would be more effective. How about 'Ouanqueur' or 'Bent Steeldick'?
Try again later with a new name and try and think of some sort of original insult as opposed to the dreary old ones that you choose to employ.
Re: what is irish music...is it all just one big riff played over and over
The funny thing is that I heard someone (who's handle has a respectable similarity to that of the OP) mocking exactly the same position as the OP on Thursday night, using much the same words.
Will you be Well Connected tonight? (OP will know what I mean if it is he.)
Re: what is irish music...is it all just one big riff played over and over
Core Lingpupa, I'm way beyond the periphery (if Sydney is indeed periphery????) ... and even I know who OP is ... mustta heard tell on a galah session on me peddle radio. News travels fast in the bush.

TWAS NOT ME!!
I'm just staggering back from a great night of tunes wif the inimitable Ruairi McGorman (knows his way around a fiddle neck that fella - and the zouk too the feck*r) and find that I'm being weirdly implicated in, er, whatever it is that this is...
Strange coincidence though, I was just up north at a festy near cairns and got into a conversation with a stand up comedian who asked me in all seriousness that, how come once we irish heads had learnt "the Irish Riff" we just play that all night and don't play some other song. After I had derisively shown him the error of his ways he.... THEN WENT AND TOLD THE SAME STORY IN HIS STAND-UP ROUTINE AS IF HE WAS BEING ALL SELF-AWAREDLY STUPID. Oh how the audience laughed at how wittty this fella was. eejit.

I think this must be Krick's younger brother or something.
*Of course* it's just one big riff played over and over, but it's letting the side down to rabbit on about this in public.
