To paraphrase Kinky Friedman:
"Beauty is in the ear of the beer holder."

Yuck. Some people have a strange sense of beauty.

Re: The perfect prctice routine

I think recall it was Nigel Kennedy who practices 2 hours each morning while watching telly!

Re: The perfect prctice routine

The back of a crowded session - pipes and piano accordions blaing, guitars thrashing, gurdies trolling, flutes and fiddles shrilling, percussion banging, et cetera - is just the place to nurse a pint and practise film themes and stuff, unheard and unmolested.

Home's not the same, there isn't the buzz.

Re: The perfect prctice routine

Molloy - I find some of the earlier Barry McGuigan bouts good for working on jigs, but for reels, I prefer the Mickey Ward v. Arturo Gatti epic battles from the late 80s.

Re: The perfect prctice routine

Up early, well rested, cuppa tea, some computer puttering (email, headlines, crossword puzzle) then a big bunch of tunes in the perfect peace and quiet (I used to live in a big city, have no desire to move back).

Well, until the roofers came back to--finally!--finish up the job. For over a week now it's been hammering, air compressor buzzing (for the nail gun), and worst of all: a boom box blasting hard rock and heavy metal all day long. (No point in complaining, with the compressor firing up every coupla minutes. I just put in some ear plugs, for partial relief.)

I now know all about one of those "enhanced interrogation techniques." Diabolical.

Re: The perfect prctice routine

Back corner of a pub, alone, no hat down, no requests acknowleged, pint in front of you, ragged copy of O'Neill's open to page anyone you like (I am fond of running through the endless interminable redundancies of all those slip jigs).

Just be done before the game starts.

Hey, worked for me.
