WFUV (www.wfuv.org) broadcasts from Fordham University in the Bronx nine hours of Celtic programming (mostly Irish music) every weekend. It starts on Saturday morning with Mile Failte, a brilliant Irish language program hosted by Dr. Seamus Blake that is bilingual and features music as a teaching tool and it is on from 8 am to 9 am EST. Following that is the excellent trad music show "A Thousand Welcomes" hosted by Kathleen Biggins now for 22 years which airs for three hours every week from 9am to noon. Many claim that this is the best radio show in America dedidated to trad music including many visiting musicians from Ireland who have appeared on the show. Kathleen is one dedicated and knowledgeable host who gives it her all. The syndicated program Thistle and Shamrock comes on then from 12noon to 1 p.m. produced and hosted by Fiona Ritchie from her base in Scotland. On Sundays, it is Ceol na nGael from 12 noon to 4 pm which has been running for around 35 years with mainstream Irish music and heavy dose of trad music as well.
All these shows streamlive on the web plus also have program archives on the website www.wfuv.org
