The RIE Late Session has been gone from the Web since the end
of August. Someone must know what's going on with it. Is it actually
off the air, or just not being podcast?
When i was in Ireland recently, I heard that the Late Session and its host Aine Hensey lost out in the reshuffle of radio 1 programming and was going off the air. I believe that Aine's RNG show is still alive but other sources may confirm the above.
I hope it comes back to RTE One radio at some point if there is enough concern about its removal.
I was wondering the same thing and I emailed show producer, Peter Browne, to ask him. Well, the unthinkable had occurred. The Late Session got the ax in budget cut moves by the station. For us over in the States, this was quite a blow.. In my opinion, The Late Session was the finest Trad show anywhere to be found and really an important source of information for what was going on in the Trad scene. The sad thing is this could have been avoided. I'm sure there are many thousands loyal listeners who would have been glad to have mailed in a contribution to keep the show on the air....had they been asked. In the States that is in fact how all of Public radio gets its primary funding. I wonder if Aine Hensey could simply continue her show online straight from her living room. I know I would tune in and I doubt I'm alone. What a shame!
