for about $150 in American script I could have a set of practice pipes
but this has to be a sham! No way you could make a set of pipes and then sell it for 99 pounds sterling even if you were dealing in stolen materials and cheap forgien labor
so what do you guys think? anybody have any first hand knowledge here? anyone missing a set of practice pipes?

They seem to have several different sets of pipes on offer - full set for £599.99 !
Must presumable be Asian imports, I'd reckon.
If so, they must come with the usual caveats.

They look positively hideous. It's amusing how he calls it a "BLACKWOOD" set, when the chanter is made out of "ROSEWOOD" - which can mean just about anything. The additional chanter top suggests he thinks you can blow the reed by mouth all day with no ill effects, which isn't how Irish pipes work. You could put a GHB practice chanter reed in there, but why not just buy a GHB PC?
Also amusing how he says "ADVANTAGES OF BAYING YOUR PIPES FROM A PIPER
PIPES ARE SETUP AND TESTED THEREFORE NO HEADACHE"
As if that were all that mattered, or that other pipemakers aren't pipers. I'd ask around at the C&F UP forum about these before BAYING anything.
Bidding had ended before I found this post, but in a former life (like about 12 months ago) I had the luxury of a bit of money to spare and bought a similarly-made, similarly-sold half set to see if the bad reviews on sites like this were OTT, given that most of the customer reviews seemed to say "very nice instrument" or the like.
They were rubbish. The first indication that all might not be well was provided by the unexpected inclusion of a flute. I think it was supposed to be a mouth-blown practice chanter; it was a flute, and it was unplayable (I play whistle and flute). Fortunately, I'd had the opportunity to try out a proper set of pipes earlier in the year and when I strapped these ones on, everything was wrong, just plain wrong. I messed around with them for about a month and gave up. Sold them on E-bay for about 50€ more than I paid, got a tenner on E-bay for the wonky flute (sold as décor item) and put the proceeds towards a Galician gaïta instead ... which played perfectly, straight out of the box.
