I am looking to see what 5 course cittern/bouzouki's are out there for sale. They seem near impossible to find and I don't want to wait 1-2 years to have one built. So if anyone has one for sale or knows of one...let me know! I'm looking for a longer scale, 24-25 inches.
Hey Duijera what's with the erratic posts? You drunk or something? Been at the session all night? Good for you!
I am looking at a Stuart. Don;t want to wait that long for the order though. Im looking for something used. I wasn't aware Hugo Chavez made zouks. Thanks.
I have one for sale. I had it on Mando Cafe for a while, and had a few people interested. My financial situation is a bit better, and so I didn't renew the ad, but I'd still be willing to talk about selling, if you're interested.
Price would be about $4000 (US) with a hard shell case and a gig bag.
Hobgoblin (upstairs in Johnny Roadhouse) in Manchester had a second hand, five course Andy Tobin a couple of weeks ago - £1,100 - got the feeling they would shift on the price. It was quite a short scale yoke though. Sound was rich and fairly resonant.
Check out Lawrence Nyberg (has web site and sound samples) who makes arch top and flat top. He is off os Vancouver Island, Canada. Really nice instruments and about 3 month wait, maybe a bit more. Stuart and Fletcher Brock are over a year I am sure...Phil Crump may be a little quicker. I am sure they are all good. There have been a few on Mandolin Cafe recently that have sold. Good luck.
If you want the right instrument I would wait if I was you .
Both Crump and Foley had about a 6 to 9 month wait last time I looked and about 3k to 4k$ depending on finish; Both should keep there value and are great machines '
I had Lawrence Nyberg make an 8-course carved top for me a few years back. Fine instrument and he is a good man to work with. We worked out a celtic hound inlay which he made for me for what I consider nominal price. Around 25.5" scale I think. I also had Joe Foley in Dublin make a 8-course bouzouki for me, took exactly a year but it is a great instrument. And Joe made it to my specs, 26.5" long scale. Good luck!
Any 5 course cittern/bouzouki's for sale?
