I have been listening to the playing of Alfred Montmarquette on the Virtual gramophone website, and it sounds as though he is playing a melodeon in the key of A. I can't hear a bassoon reed neither, but the recordings are pretty scratchy. Does anyone have familiarity with this artist, who can shed a little more light on his style and accordeon used?

Re: Alfred Montmarquette's accordeon playing
He used a one-row accordeon in A. You might also want to look at my web page on this guy :

You might also check with the button box to get Gaston Nolet's CD that is a tribute to Montmarquette
He also played often with 3 reeds, not 4.
