Can anyone help with the name of the opening tune on Eoin Dillon's album The Third Twin? The set is called Liffey Reels. I've spent 30 minutes looking for it in various sections here, but no success. It starts like this:
ABF/AAAB defd/eBBA BedB/AAAB efff/eABe ABce - with c and f sharp - sorry, my abc isn't very good - and also, he's playing it on pipes, so the key would be different too.
Then a slipjig:
FEF D2d cAG/F2D A2F GFE/FFF D2d cAG/FAF GAG AFE...
2nd part: d/cAd cAG F2d/cAF GFE D2...
Thanks for any suggestion - don't waste time suggesting I should learn ABC though
No problem. At first glance, I don't recognize the reel.
You might try using my tune search site at http://abctunesearch.com (although, you should put in 'pipe' characters instead of the slashes, since slashes mean something else in ABC. Or leave the bar lines out altogether, since my search rips them out anyway) And you can search in different keys on my site if you know what key/mode your transcription is in...
Or try searching at http://tunepal.org, which is a good search too (in fact, you can just play the tune into that one, and it will look for it...)
I wanted the notes for Paddys perambulations and mailed Eoin. He composed the tune but does not write anything down so if he composed tune one you will not find the notes or abc unless someone has already done that and posted it somewhere. I worked out Paddys myself using a penny whistle and now play it on the pipes. Eoin was fine about me doing that but you may want to mail him to ok your request.

Re: looking for names - eoin dillon and a slipjig
Thanks Reverend! Now I've finally understood, why it always seemed such a strange slipjig - because it's actually a jig

To Reverend: WOW! That's brilliant!
Even though I haven't found the first tune.

Re: looking for names - eoin dillon and a slipjig
I think Eoin composed the 1st tune - mightn't be easy to find note listings.

To tim h: I've learned the tune already by ear. But I like to put names to tunes I write in my tune book
So is it called Paddy's perambulations?

Re: looking for names - eoin dillon and a slipjig
No, 'Paddys Perambulations' is the second tune on 'The Third Twin' album. I will see if I can find out more about the first tune and get back to you.
