Looking for Afterhours (feat. Alan Burke) 1988 recording
Looking for Afterhours (feat. Alan Burke) 1988 recording
Hi,
I've recently purchased the 2nd & 3rd Afterhours albums 2nd hand (for a pretty penny I might add) but can't for the life of me find their eponymous 1988 debut.
If anyone could sort me out with a copy I'd gladly pay expenses. A FLAC (or ALAC) download would be amazing but obviously beggars can't be choosers.
I suspect that the CD was deleted a decade ago (at least) and I don't envy you in searching for this one with all those Ibiza and New York 'Afterhours' compilations.
Re: Looking for Afterhours (feat. Alan Burke) 1988 recording
was it pressed in cd format? I suspect it was made when Alan was living in Fishguard and let's face it (gulp) no-one knew about cd's in Fishguard then (gulp again...sorry Alan...). A friend of mine has it on tape which he transferred to cd format...if you're desperate...I don't think Alan would mind...i could get a copy...
Re: Looking for Afterhours (feat. Alan Burke) 1988 recording
yes Floss I thought it was tape only otherwise I'm sure I would have gotten my grubby hands on a copy from Alan himself. Perhaps a digital remaster is in order at some...a 20th anniversary re-issue cd in surround sound...with a live dvd of an Afterhours performance at the Sub Rooms in Stroud...sigh...
Re: Looking for Afterhours (feat. Alan Burke) 1988 recording
Funnily enough, I've just finished transferring my cassette to CD.
The thing that struck me was the sound is superior on this first recording compared to the later CDs. It is the original line-up; Alan, Tim and Henry. In 2000, they got together again for a re-union gig at the Nailsea Folk Club, near Bristol. Brilliant. THAT should be released. Or the BBC Wales "On the Road" performances from 1986.
