hello i recently found a bailie piano accordion with 15 melody keys and 12 bass buttons. It needs some restoring as it is 40-50 years old,
. Would anyone be able to give me an estimate for how much i could sell this accordion
Baile accordions are Chinese. Not the best reputation as far as I know. You can buy a new Bailie 12 bass for around £155. A 'second hand' Hohner Student II 12 bass box is selling at around the same price.
Here in New York a 12 bass Italian accordion in good working order would be worth about $25 to $50 USD, but only to someone who doesn't know accordions at all. That would be base on a charm factor and the buyer not knowing what they're worth. The Baile, while being worthless, may get the same. A 120 bass accordion with 2 or 3 treble reeds, with 3 or 5 shifts or registers at 40 to 50 years old would generally be worth about $50 USD in good shape with brand being a non- issue unless it's a Paolo Soprani. I don't know why the Paolo's go for more when 3/4 reed Italian piano accordions from the 50's and 60's came with similar quality reeds and components regardless of brand name, with the better quality reeds and components reserved for accordions with more voices. Top quality reeds were not put in accordions with less than 120 bass buttons either except for special order back then. The new Golden Cup Chinese accordions are nice to play but if the few existent exampes of their predecessors from 40 years ago have any value, it's sentimental.
