Is there such a thing? Devoted to the lore and history of this great instrument? If anyone's heard of any such I'd love to hear about it. A Google search turned up only perhipheral mentions in museums of "ancient Instruments" [smith college I think it was]
You go ahead and get the grant from the Canadian government, and I'll move to Toronto to help leech off the money...I mean, to help you facilitate and operate this fine establishment. {ahem}
I have visited B B King's wig museum in Finchley, Texas. They not only have a collection of wigs (and rare wig glues such as SyripStik and Hair Hat Araldite)of the rich and famous but also have a side exhibit of hotwiter bottles and potato peelers of the hot and bothered. It was a fine 5 minutes entertainment.
You just have to see the Matt Monroe gallery. Who'd of thought such a great singer could have also collected such a fab array of rubber waterbottles and pre-WWII potato peelers?
In most museums I will stare at the instruments, wishing I could get my hands on them to play them...............
.......on the other hand for the bodhran I say "Best place for them".
Oh, sorry, thought we were talking about tenor banjos for a moment.......
I went to the bagpipe museum in Edinbro but had to keep moving to follow it up and down the street.
Only joking - it is worth a vist.
Do they search you for knives etc. when you go in a bodhran museum?
They haven't got space to display them all as people keep leaving more bodhrans there.
Bodhran museum?
