Radio 1 has relegated The Rolling Wave to a 10pm Sunday night slot, with Céilí House remaining at 9pm on a Sat night.
Lyric Fm has just 1.5 hr per week with Grace Notes at 7pm on a Thurs.
RnaG seems to be the only weekday trad music output with a new daily program at 7pm, Meaití Joe is now at weekends and the Ronan Mac Aoidh Bhuí now has 2hrs a day 3-5pm.
I think it's very disappointing to have Meati's show bumped from midweek. While I really like RMAB's programming it's not particularly trad in perspective. Who's doing the daily at 7 mid week ? Mate, you should try living in Canada where although there are deep musical traditions still living the CBC doesn't broadcast anything, ever. It's all about american blues, jazz and popular music. Nothing short of complete cultural capitulation and implosion.
Patkiwi, CBC Cape Breton does have some traditional music content....not a whole lot, one weekly show, and then other stuff mixed in, but some of the hosts like trad and it becomes part of the mix. News, record releases, stuff like that...Cape Breton fiddle mostly.
But you're riht, once you hit the mainland, it becomes pretty bland, and with the cuts to local programming, it's going to get even more homogenised.

RTÉ radio's new trad music schedule
RTÉ radio has just announced its new schedule.
2fm has nothing as usual.
The schedule can be seen at http://www.rte.ie/radio/newseason/rte_radio_new_season2009.pdf
Overall extremely disappointing to see that ITM has been relegated out of our weekdays unless you have Gaeilge!
What do you think????

Re: RTÉ radio's new trad music schedule
BBC Radio Ulster has Blás Cheoil most evenings and some Scots Irish and Pipe & Drum programmes mid week. Not bad for the 6 counties.
