Anyone ever hear of a fiddle maker named Gandee?

Anyone ever hear of a fiddle maker named Gandee?

I recently saw an ad locally (NY). I'm looking for a fiddle for my daughter, but don't know enough to judge. I'd like to be able to have her teacher hear it, but in the meantime, has anyone heard of this maker?

Ad reads:
I have 2 great fiddles for sale one older one made in ohio by gandee in 1983,and another one replica of a strat, asking 300 for one and 450 for the other,,OR B/O

I have not heard of the maker but that is really not saying much as I have hardly heard of any makers. If the ad calls it a strat copy rather than a strad copy I would be wary though.

Best thing you can do if you are not confident enough in your own fiddling yet to judge would be to take a friend along who is a good player and have them try the fiddles out. Good luck. I hope you get what you are looking for.

Forget the labels, they are meaningless. Just look at the instruments.

The name 'Gandhi' means 'smith'. Is it a tin fiddle?
