Wroclaw, Poland

I'm going to be in this part of Poland from 6th-19th August. There are no sessions listed on here but just wondered if there was anyone lurking on here from that part of the world who might fancy meeting up for a pint and a tune somewhere, or know of anything going on? I know there are a few Irish and Scottish themed pubs in the town..........

Cheers,
Dan

Hey Daniel

Re: Wroclaw, Poland

There is an Irish pub in the Old Town, in the Plac Solny (Salt Square), but as far as I can remember its theme-ness does not encompass music. You can contant the lassies from Ellorien group (Wrocław-based Riverdance spinoff) if they know someone (http://www.ellorien.pl/), but be warned - they might not be strict about the traditional side of the Music. I would be surprised (and delighted) if you find a half decent player in there.

The nearest decent musician I know about (an exceptional flute player, in fact) lives 1,5 hrs drive down the motorway, in Gliwice. He is a member of the Mustard Board:

Next time choose Warsaw, Poznan, Szczecin or Katowice areas.

Re: Wroclaw, Poland

Now that I looked into the matter a bit, there is a band that claims to play Irish traditional music in Wrocław:

Might be worth trying, however - I've never heard of them, never heard them play. Prudence recommended.

Re: Wroclaw, Poland

I am looking at visiting Krakow and an area my mother keeps calling the Gural Mountain area southwest of there next year looking for some Family ties.

Anyone have any intelligence on the music there....or do I just bring my old Polish PA instead of the Saltarelle?

Cheers :-)

Thanks for that, I'll try and check some of them out when I get there.
