I spent many hours listening to and playing with Michael Tennyson, Helen Flaherty and Paul Dixon while studying in Leeds for a year. Dean, your playing brings back lovely memories. Hopefully I'll get a copy soon.
got this album of dean on cavan - its superb playing and lovely setting of well known tunes and some rarer gems ( Track 3 , firt jig is lovely and the caves of kiltanon is splendid - cant remeber the track number )
even if you dont like the pianobox , get this CD now!! Top musician
Having got hold of this CD a few weeks ago I must agree with all the above comments. One of my favourite tracks (Track 7) is a newly composed barndance written jointly by Johnny Óg Connolly and Brian McGrath. The CD includes a nice balance of newly composed tunes by the likes of Junior Crehan, Ed Reavey, Charlie Lennon, etc and older standards. The Caves of Kiltanon (Track 11) mentioned above is a lovely jig composed by the late great fiddler, Paddy Canny and Dean plays it appropriately in that unhurried East Clare style.
