It doesn´t really surprise me. I do not live so far away from the region in Germany where this flute was found, and Southern Germany, especially Bavaria, is old Celtic country. So they probably had some early sessions here - wonder what THEIR session etiquette was like ???
Hey, that's my flute...left it there at a session several hundred centuries ago - too much fermented mare's milk and was hit on the head by a mammoth rib....those were the days.
Check out Simon O'Dwyers site for the oldest Irish instruments identified so far. Unfortunately we have as yet found no evidence of occupation of Ireland before the Mesolithic. There may be Palaeolithic remains somewhere in a deep cave in the south of the country somewhere but we haven't found them yet. Link to Simon http://homepage.eircom.net/~bronzeagehorns/

I do not think you will be able to re-claim your old flute -
Past lives are generally not admissable in court.
[except for racial/religious hate crimes, of course - we are all still guilty for our forefathers actions, and must be made to pay!!

Re: Flutists --- Oldest Known Flute
I used to have this really old flute but sold it to some kid who resides on Living Island.
