i know a lad whose wife hates, absolutely HATES when he stomps his foot while practicing at home. doesn't mind him playing, once the foot isn't stomping! i guess now, over the years he just got used to it. Funny though, his leg still lifts when he plays....kinda silently tapping on the floor!!
the rest of us stomp away....it's still alive-n-well in the midlands i think
if ye wanna see real stomping though...check out David Munnelly's band if ye get a chance. i thought they'd break through the floor at one point!!
There are lots of "vibrant, informative and funny" people still there, {myself not included!} but unfortunately, in my opinion, the board constantly gets totally cluttered up with folks advertising events, concerts, folk clubs etc etc.
I personally feel it'd work better if those were all posted on a separate notice board, which would leave the forum clear for discussions, which is what I feel a discussion board is all about.
I have brought this up before, but lots of people over there feel strongly that all these adverts, should be in people's faces on the main board, so they remain.
It's still a very useful, friendly & informative site to keep tabs on though & a great place to stock up on Scottish Trad CDs!
Sorry for any confusion. I wasn't suggesting the site itself had vanished but that the content had deteriorated to the level of an egomaniac's version of the Sunday Post.
Footstomping
Footstomping
Does anyone know whats happened to Footstompin?
It used to be vibrant, informative and funny.
That's all gone.

The Sun's come out, and the funny, vibrant and informative people have all got better things to do than stare at a computer.

Re: Footstomping
P.S. Another Scottish forum worth checking out is Nigel's:
http://www.nigelgatherer.com/forum/
Much quieter, but still friendly with loads of great info on Scottish tunes, on the rest of his site.
Cheers
Dick

Re: Footstomping
They reintroduced the bodhran to Irish music to try to cut out the dreadful foot stamoing.
Alas melody players do not seem to realise the damage they do to the tradition.

You never see a bodhranista stomping their feet, eh Mr. Bliss?
