Depends on what you want to spend. In my opinion the best available at the moment is the Beltuna. They're pricey at around 2k but by far the best melodeon I have played...way nicer and easier to play than the castagnari. John Brosnan is an agent for them in Kerry. Narrowing your search to the finest brands is good for avoiding melodeons of inferior workmanship and playability, or low quality reeds. But play as many as you can before purchasing one because there are some funny variations in construction and design that affect playability.... some boxes gulp air, some boxes have a button instead of a lever for the air, etc. You might find that one is easier/more comfortable to play than another.

I found the castagnari the nicest, next up the vanderaa, havent tried the belltuna of recent times but heard good reports.
