As I'm going to Ireland this July (can't wait!) and I loove Sliabh Luachra style, I'll definitely visit the area and I'd love to drop in to some sessions around. The problem is, I haven't any friend from the area yet and no info on when and where do the sessions take place. Ceolachan has already given me invaluable info on the places and the people, but it's been ten years since he lived there. I've also learned from Jack Roche that there is an old session in Scully's bar in Newmarket every Monday night and a session each Tuesday night in Bruach Na Carraige, Rockchapel. Any other suggestions are very welcome! We'll start off our short Kerry ramble by staying in Killarney, after that we're still undecided where to go and where to stay. If you have any info and advice on cheap accommodation and any means of transport around, that would be great as well. Thanks a lot in advance!
Tim Browne has a session in Kilarney sometime during the week at the Grand Hotel. Can't remember which night though. Also, years ago Connie O'Connell had one at the Auld Triangle in Macroom, but I'm not sure he's still doing it.
The Scully's session is not to be missed, by the way.
The Sliabh Luachra area has pretty poor public transport - see. http://www.buseireann.ie. Frankly, you'd be better off hiring a car or even bikes in Killarney.
