i too think his playing is wonderful. ok, his rolls are louder and more prominent than i like them, but that aside, his expression, his swing, his tempo....he is lovely. there is a nifty interview with him and a bunch of playing as well, on one of the archived shows in rte's "bloom of youth" series with kieran hanrahan. he comes across as endearingly earnest and sincere about the music, and there's a great moment when he deplores how there is just "too much fast playing" afoot these days....indeed, his tempo is one of my favorite things about his playing....it is by no means slow or draggy, but it is slow enough so you can hear him expressing the tune....
A fantastic box player, who plays b/c as far as im aware (in answer to TradLad's question)....his distinct style is very easy on the ear and there is no doubt he is a fantastic talent, i watched him playing on the street in Tullamore last august with another fine box player Michael Curran from Co. Tyrone, who also happened to be competing against Darren, they kept us happy listeners entertained for hours
Darren Breslin
Darren Breslin
Darren Breslin is unbelievable. I've heard that he's got a CD out... but I can't seem to find it. Does anyone know where it might be sold?

Re: Darren Breslin
I don't usually agree with competitions, but I cannot imagine any other player even coming close to Darren's talent.

And of course he comes from Co. Fermanagh, the home of great talent.
